Futures Markets: Bird-Flu Downturn Means…Life?
We thought the recent news stories about an infected parrot had reached the Britain last weekend and that bird migration could bring the flu to our shores as soon as early as March would result in a massive spike in the Bird- Flu reaching the U.S. contracts on Tradesports. However, it’s not the case. For confirmation, we went to our Tradesports mole Mike Knesevitch for explanation:
OJ: So the bird flu contract seems to have dipped over the weekend? MK: Yes. It has. It’s only trading at about 26 in December and 48 in March right now. OJ: Wow, so based on the theory of predictive markets–that would mean we’re safe from the Bird Flu! MK: I guess that’s what it means.
