Jason Kidd called NBA Refs THREE BLIND MICE

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

Now THAT’s hilarious.

Jason Kidd, the incomparable icon from the New Jersey Nets, respected throughout the league ultimately even earning MINE, was frustrated in a lost game to the Detroit Pistons when NBA referee Tom Washington missed a call that would’ve given Nets star Vince Carter two free throws that could’ve won the game.

Now, even though we are already talking hypothetically here, and even though it was against MY Detroit Pistons, I must admit, Jason Kidd has a point here. (See, I’m not just biased to the Pistons…)

nets_lose.jpgAnd yeah, Kidd has all the right to call the three guys officiating the game, THREE BLIND MICE. He he… That was a good one.

Nevertheless, we Pistons fans will take the win anytime. And yep, Jason Kidd was fined $20,000 by the NBA for the THREE BLIND MICE comment. Aw… c’mon, where’s the league’s sense of humor?

New Jersey Nets head coach Lawrence Frank was not fined despite walking on the court and yelling at Washington for not calling a foul when Vince Carter was bumped by Rasheed Wallace before missing a potential game-winning 15-foot shot. I guess all VC can say in a situation like this is, ‘’SHEED HAPPENS.'’

‘’We come to work, and we work extremely hard at this, only for the officials to…

Will Harry Potter Die or Join The Crappy Happy-Ever-After Endings?

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

PoppyZThe end is near when the final book of the Harry Potter series is released next year.

And author turned billionaire JK Rowling’s recent statements are now stirring up speculations of how the story of the boy wizard will end: Will he die or will he live?

Sportsbooks and online bookies have also released odds and props on how Harry Potter’s saga will end.

The odds came days after Rowling revealed the title of Harry Potter saga ends next yearthe long-awaited seventh book as Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

Rowling recently hinted that two characters are expected to die in the finale, and Harry himself might not survive. Fans even think that, to ensure that Voldemort dies, Harry will need to sacrifice his own life.

SIA Sportsbook cited several scenarios of how Harry will die. One of which predicts he will die saving someone else’s life, a darker prop says Harry will ultimately join the dark side. Nice try, but a Jedi movie already used that plot. Find something original, will yah.

If you ask me, I’d rather let Harry die…

Christmas Edition of NFL Monday Night Football

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Inconsistency. Inconsistency. Inconsistency.

Yep, I couldn’t stress that even further. After shutting down the New England Patriots the week before, these somewhat inconsistent Miami Dolphins were shut down themselves by the Buffalo Bills.

Jeez… It’s the Buffalo Bills for crying out loud. A storied team like the Miami Dolphins shouldn’t be beaten like that by a team whose only true football icon is O.J. Simpson. C’mon!

Yep, the Buffalo Bills blew the Miami Dolphins away, 21-0, throwing Miami’s playoff chances out the window. Of course, you can bet yer ass the Dolphins didn’t appreciate being eliminated from the playoffs at all.

And yeah, Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban saw it coming too.

A night before last Sunday’s game, Dolphins coach Nick Saban stood in front of his players with a message. It wasn’t necessarily intended for any specific player or unit. However, cornerback Andre Goodman knew better.

The words about consistency and reliability were certainly meant for his ears.

”If you’re going to be a good cornerback, then you have to be a good shutdown corner on every play,” Saban told them, as…

Is Terrell Owens this week’s NFL Christmas Monster?

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

He is.

The question here is, will he be the monster offensively that can give the Dallas Cowboys another huge win? Or will he be the monster that has brought his team on the brink of chaos?

Yep, it will be the Terrell Owens show Monday as his Dallas Cowboys take on his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, in what would be round two between T.O. and Philly. Philadelphia won round one so you can bet Owens will either find redemption with a win or ultimately just suffer a mental breakdown with yet another loss to the Philadelphia birds.

Terrell Owens won’t be meeting hated adversary, Donovan McNabb, as the Eagles franchise QB was taken out of the season with yet another injury.

This time, T.O. will be taking on his ”other” adversary, his first one in fact, as he takes on former San Francisco 49ers teammate, Jeff Garcia.

The Terrell Owens saga started back in San Francisco when T.O. started jawing at quarterbacks. The first of which was former San Francisco 49ers QB, Jeff Garcia.

Isn’t it ironic that Owens’ former team, the Eagles, will have yet another ”Owens victim,” so to speak, in Jeff Garcia as they meet T.O. on the field Monday? And yeah, Terrell Owens WILL still have the rest of the Dallas Cowboys led by quarterback extraordinaire Tony Romo against Philly but…

Got the Paris Syndrome this Christmas Season?

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

No, it ain’t a behavioral disorder where women starts walking around the streets without their underwear.

As much as I’d like that to happen, it ain’t it. It’s about the city of Paris silly. The very city depicted in movies as a very romantic place filled with very beautiful French women. Well, as far as this so-called ”Paris Syndrome” goes, that picture of the city is the exact opposite of what the Paris Syndrome shows. Confused? Read on.

Some Japanese tourists, probably spending this Christmas holiday season in the beautiful city of Paris, have fallen prey to what they are now calling, ”Paris Syndrome.” Yup, this is what these Asians are calling it after discovering that beautiful Paris ain’t so beautiful after all.

Apparently, some Parisians can be rude just like most of us too. As a result, these Japanese tourists ended up somewhat disappointed after having this almost perfect picture of this city. The experience can apparently be too stressful for some and they suffer a psychiatric breakdown.

Many of the visitors come with a deeply romantic vision of Paris, the cobbled streets, as seen in the film Amelie, the beauty of French women or the high culture and art at the Louvre.

The reality can come as a…

Will Larry Brown Return to the Philadelphia 76ers?

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Could be. Now that the problem child is gone.

Yep, as of press time, Philadelphia 76ers president, Billy King, has been talking with Larry Brown about a possible return to coaching the disgruntled NBA Basketball franchise.

Already acting as an unofficial adviser to the Philadelphia 76ers and team president Billy King, Brown could formally return to the organization he led to the 2001 NBA Finals.

”We will certainly continue to talk, but at this point, we are not sure if anything official will come of it,” Billy King said.

Allen Iverson and Larry Brown have been jawing at each other throughout the two’s stint with Philly. Now that Philadelphia has traded Allen Iverson to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Joe Smith, Andre Miller and two future first-round picks, there’s no stopping this Brown-Philadelphia reunion.

Now I don’t know if the Sixers trading away Iverson was a good deal for Philly but having a coach of Larry Brown’s caliber back will definitely be sweet. Besides, Larry Brown has a knack for turning a star-less team to a championship franchise, he did that after all with the Detroit Pistons back in 2004, and with the…

Hilton Sued by Paparazzi for Lewd Celeb Photos

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Hmm. Did I have it backwards, and mean Hilton sues paparazzi for lewd celeb photos? Nope.

Often it is celebrities who take paparazzi to court for exposing them in private, usually embarrassing moments caught on camera. The tables are turned this time when paparazzi do the suing, not of a mega-popular celebrity but close. A Hilton is under fire for raunchy celebrity pictures but she isn’t Paris. He is Perez.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is being sued for the unauthorized use of several celebrity photos owned by X17 Inc.

The photo agency based on Los Angeles claims Hilton, whose celebrity blog PerezHilton.com is also based on Los Angeles, has used 51 celeb photos of theirs without permission, payment, or credit.

Perez Hilton is the online alias of Mario Lavandeira. He runs a celebrity blog out of LA, where he posts tabloid-flavored celebrity pictures along with captions often to deride the celebs. He has received a joint letter from seven other photo agencies demanding that he stop using their celeb photos, but they have yet to sue him and X17 was the first to do so.

What are these celebrity photos owned by X17 and allegedly used by Hilton in his blog? See if you recognize any: Britney Spears exposing her tush (There are only a million versions of it out there!), Kevin Federline pumping gas (Why would anyone waste time posting that one?), and a pregnant Katie Holmes (Good luck IDing which one in plenty).

“We’ve had trouble with a lot of bloggers, but he’s the biggest, and the most arrogant and pigheaded about it, frankly,” says Brandy Navarre, who co-owns X17 with her…

Caesars Palace Las Vegas Casino Hotel: What’s the Deal?

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Caesars Palace Las Vegas is a name attached to a long list of celebrities, including Roman statues.

It is such a household name that even I have heard while growing up, before I knew about Las Vegas. The reason is arguably that Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino is an A-list celebrity magnet. Nowadays, that would be a sure reference to Céline Dion.

The hotel’s 4,000-seat Colosseum, a replica of the one from Ancient Rome, was built specifically for her Las Vegas show, Céline Dion: A New Day, and is the venue of another big-named show, The Red Piano with Elton John.

Before Dion, the likes of Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, George Burns, Cher, David Copperfield, Julio Iglesias, and Liberace have performed at Caesars Palace. In the 1980s, it was a boxing hotspot that hosted the fights of Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, and of course, Mike Tyson. Heavyweight champ Joe Louis worked here as a greeter until his death in 1981.

Dion’s show is one of the most expensive in Sin City (tickets as high as $200) yet a constant sellout. But Caesars Palace hosts the free Las Vegas shows Fall of Atlantis and Festival Fountain, and certainly you get what you pay for. Caesars’ infamous water fountain was the one Evel Knievel tried to jump over on his…

Chiefs, Raiders, renew Rivalry on Saturday Night Football

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders, if this game has playoff implications, this would’ve been great.

Instead we see a Kansas City Chiefs team probably out of the AFC playoff picture and an Oakland Raiders franchise clearly an embarrassment to what the Silver and Black once used to be. Sigh.

Nevertheless, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders will STILL renew this legendary rivalry, if you can STILL call it that, as they face-off on NFL Saturday Night Football in front of a handful of the STILL faithful Raiders fans.

Yep, Raider Nation has been through a lot this season.

Again, they accepted a different head coach, that being Art Shell this time, this year. They also have to deal with Jerry Porter, the team’s leading receiver last season, not playing games to begin the year with his feud with coach Shell.

Running back LaMont Jordan has been dropping and fumbling footballs much to the dismay of the Raider faithful this season. Starting quarterback Aaron Brooks suffered an injury that sidelined him for a couple of weeks, leaving coach Shell no choice but to start the young…

Pettitte Returns to the Yankees, Clemens to Follow?

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

I guess one can’t really stay away from New York City.

Especially if the New York Yankees will pay you a whopping $16 million just to don those Yankee pinstripes one more time. Andy Pettitte was invited into a reunion of the 1996 World Series champions Yankees. He ended up staying in New York, $16 million richer.

After three seasons with his hometown Houston Astros, he came up to the big city for a Nov. 10 gathering of the Yankees’ 1996 World Series championship team, a benefit for manager Joe Torre’s Safe at Home Foundation.

”Really at that time, there was no chance. In my mind it was Houston or nowhere, or retiring,” Pettitte said. ”It was out of my mind returning to New York.”

By Dec.8, Andy Pettitte had changed his mind, turning down a $12 million offer to stay with the Astros to accept a $16 million, one-year contract with the Yankees, a deal that was finalized Thursday.

Andy Pettitte claims that Joe Torre, along with the rest of the Yankees, put on an ”absolutely the full-court press on me” just to have him rejoin…
