Boston College, Central Michigan, Start Football War
Yep, on the 31st of August, 2006, the brand new NCAA College Football season starts as Boston College and Central Michigan take the field.
Every NCAA College Football fan will be watching the NCAA College Football field when the Boston College Eagles and the Central Michigan Chippewas kick-off what will definitely be another intense college football action all the way to the BCS Championships.
This game will be important for those Boston College Eagles as they play for respectability in NCAA Football. The Eagles have to establish an identity. They thought they did it a year ago, tying Florida State for first place in the Atlantic Division. They received a
reality check when their eight wins and co-division title earned them a trip to Boise, Idaho, for a lower-profile bowl game they won but still fumed about.
Maybe what the Eagles view as a lack of respect, despite six straight bowl victories (the best current streak in the nation), will change this season with more success and notoriety. Beating those Central Michigan Chippewas in Day 1 will definitely boost their chances of doing just that.
As for the Central Michigan Chippewas, they don’t look as concerned as Boston College. How can I say that? Well, a light practice just days before the brand new NCAA College Football season will suggest that for sure.
Central Michigan defensive end, Dan Bazuin, insists he saw limited time in Central Michigan’s spring football game because the coaches wanted to see what other people could do.
The humorous reason, though, was the Chippewa coaches kept the 6-foot-3, 268-pound standout defensive end to limited action because they were afraid he’d hurt someone, especially a trio of young quarterbacks.
Bazuin played the first couple of series in the spring game at Kelly/Shorts Stadium Saturday afternoon and then spent the rest of the time on the bench talking with teammates and roaming the sidelines a little bored.
‘’The coaches wanted to get a look at the young guys because they’ve seen me before,'’ Bazuin said afterward, where there was a barbecue for fans in attendance and an autograph session. ‘’I don’t think they were afraid of me hurting anybody, but they wanted to see people in live action.'’
Maybe a sign of confidence in the part of those Central Michigan Chippewas perhaps? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see just how confident these Chippewas can be when they meet the Boston College Eagles at NCAA College Football opening day.
