Is Roger Federer gay?
With his four-set conquest of Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, Roger Federer won his seventh career Grand Slam at the Australian Open.
His peers, men and women, have repeatedly said they prefer to watch him play more than any other. Tennis legends such as John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, and Boris Becker have said he could very well be the greatest player of all time.
Federer is playing a brand of tennis that’s never been played before, combining classic grace with modern power. He moves so fluidly that he never appears out of place and he finds angles on the court that would perplex geometry professors. His game has no glaring weakness. He’s nearly unbeatable.
A French Open win will make Federer as the only man since Rod Laver to hold all four Grand Slam titles at the same time. This man is hot human when he’s on the court. His tennis prowess is unquestionable. His opponents are virtually helpless and now, his critics are desperately finding ways in order to defeat the Swiss number one.
With the guy seemingly impossible to beat on court, anti-FedEx fans are now questioning Roger’s sexual preference – his calm demeanor, crying after tournament wins, his not-so-gorgeous girlfriend and sitting right next to her, Federer’s ever-present pal.
The most dubious question would be: Is Roger Federer gay? Have you seen his "girlfriend" most recently at the Aussie Open? She’s so fat now. Maybe FedEx’s girl is spending much of his time eating rather than banging Federer when Roger isn’t playing. Can’t remember a fat “first lady of tennis”.
However, did anyone notice the guy sitting with her with the rainbow shirt on? If we will review Roger’s past finals appearances, we can safely say that the man sitting beside his ‘girlfriend’ has been there for Federer through thick and thin. Is that guy Federer’s boyfriend? The announcers are always saying she’s the girlfriend, many were thinking she’s just a facade.
Federer never shouts, never yells, never gets upset and never shows any visible signs of emotion on the court. Ever. He is cold, calculated, methodical, and devastatingly ruthless, like a machine cyborg sent back from the future to become the greatest tennis player ever.
For many, he is Sampras, Bjorn Borg and Ivan Lendl rolled into one but for some, he’s just too soft and too quiet – someone who’s always showing his feminine side in game mostly dominated by outspoken and muscular men.
If we can’t serve an ace, let’s win the battle one stroke at a time. Let’s make Federer’s sexuality something to stealthily toss around on message boards. It’s s shame that many are questioning Roger’s ‘groundstrokes’. One thing is clear though: His game does most of the talking and we’re sure Andy Roddick doesn’t like his tennis ass getting kicked by Federer everytime they face each other on the court.

Regarding Federer’s girlfriend being not so gorgeous. When she thinner and playing on tour she was considered one of the sexyist girls. So calling her not so gorgeous is only from a certain point of view. In other words, if she had the same face but lost 25 lbs. would people be saying the same thing.

While I don’t think Roger is by any means gay, I disagree with Jazzy. I saw pics of her, and she was never sexy. She is naturally big-boned and ugly.

Didn’t Federer say himself, when asked about his “bigger” girlfriend, that he liked her for who she was and that was all that mattered to him?

I happen to be gay, and have a good sense of gaydar, and Federer is definitely NOT gay….
But your assessment of a player’s sexuality is almost as off-the-mark as your comment that tennis is overrun by outspoken and muscular men. What a joke. Who besides Nadal (and to a lesser extent Ginepri) even looks like they go to the gym? Hewitt? Roddick? Davydenko?!!!

After reading these commments I realized how difficult it is to change people’s mindsets with regard to stereotypes.
The man has a few feminine traits - it does NOT mean he’s Gay. As for his girlfriend, her reaction during the matches tells you there is something special between her and Roger. Definitely love of one sort of another. Personally, I thought it was quite lovely (and yes, I’m a poufter).

This is crap.Roger conducts himself with dignity and treats those around him with respect which is more than what those people who are responsible for the above comments do when they make misguided judgments about a person who does not deserve them.Roger gives so much of himself in the public areana his sexual orientation is none of our business.At the end of the day he is a champion on and off the court!!!

Is he or isn’t he? Who cares?
I’m gay but care most about his amazing style of all-court play, incredible strategy, and ability to both together to win key matches. Well, outside of 2008, anyway.
I do think that it would be great if he were to “come out” as gay and show the world the misconceptions they may have about athleticism, manliness and sexuality. Then again, Bill Tilden was gay and was World #1 for 7 years, winning 7 US Opens and 3 Wimbledons back in the 20s.
But if Roger were gay and coming out were to become a distraction for him, I’d rather that he stay focused on his game and keep delivering that (until recently) unrivaled quality of tennis.
In other words, if I’m gay & I don’t care… why should you?
