NFL Sunday Night Football pits Cowboys against Saints
The Dallas Cowboys are dubbed as ”America’s team,” dating as far back to the Troy Aikman era. The New Orleans Saints, after the Hurricane Katrina tragedy, are now the NFL Football team America is rooting for. On NFL Sunday Night Football, these two powerhouse teams looking to clinch a playoff spot will go head to head.
If this Dallas Cowboys contingent is ”America’s team,” then Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo should now be called ”Captain America.” Tony Romo has been the answer to the Cowboys’ problems this season, and now, he has gone from a nameless Bledsoe backup to a sports icon probably bigger than Tracy McGrady, Dirk Nowitzki and Tim Duncan in Texas.
Since taking over as the starting QB, replacing the somewhat immobilized Drew Bledsoe, Romo led the Dallas Cowboys to an 8-4 mark, and now they are lording over the NFC East.
As for the New Orleans Saints, they will come into Texas Stadium coming off a breakout performance from their rookie running back Reggie Bush. Last Sunday, Bush seem to found himself back in his heydays with the USC Trojans. He led the New Orleans Saints to a 34-10 destruction of the San Francisco 49ers, scoring FOUR TOUCHDOWNS on the Niners pathetic defense.
If America is now rooting for the New Orleans Saints, then Reggie Bush is now the new ”American Idol.”
Reggie Bush finally had his breakout day in the Superdome. He scored touchdowns in a variety of ways. He scored on a dive play. He scored on a sweep. He scored on a shuffle pass. He scored on a reverse. Overall, Bush combined for 168 yards on 19 electrifying touches and four touchdowns, leading the New Orleans Saints in the 34-10 blowout.
Both the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints are arguably the hottest teams in the NFC Conference. This game on NFL Sunday Night Football can probably decide who will represent the conference at Super Bowl XLI in Miami, Florida.
Yes, the Chicago Bears are still the no.1 team in the NFC but with the way Bears QB Rex Grossman has been playing as of late, you could very well forget that footnote sooner than you think.
