The Day when Brett Favre passed Dan Marino
Brett Favre is immortal. Let me first get that one out. We all knew that if Brett Favre continued to play THIS LONG, he will eventually overtake the legendary Miami Dolphins QB, Dan Marino, for the NFL Football completion record.
And against the Detroit Lions last Sunday, he did just that, completing 20 of 37 passes to drop completion number 4,974 in his illustrious career, that’s seven completed passes better than Marino.
Dan Marino held the record for most completed passes in NFL Football with 4,967 before Favre smoked that record against the Lions. Oh yeah, the Green Bay Packers won, 17-9.
Listening to Brett Favre speak after the game, you wouldn’t have known it. ‘’I have to remind myself that this is a win,'’ Favre said. Yep, that is the competitor in Brett Favre, always putting the team first before personal achievement. Something guys like Dwyane Wade and LeBron James can learn a lot from.
Brett Favre broke Dan Marino’s career completions record, but the Green Bay Packers had to overcome three interceptions by the three-time MVP for a 17-9 victory over the Detroit Lions.
It was only the second home victory all season for the Green Bay Packers (6-8), who have now won two in a row. Given the sorry state of the NFC Conference, some Packers players were talking playoffs after the game.
Favre thought otherwise.
‘’We were lucky to win the game,'’ Favre said. ‘’We’ll take it. But for us to be talking playoffs, and I heard that there has been playoff talk, I mean, we’ve got a long ways to go.'’
