The Word’s Out: Willie Nelson Is Gay!
Talk about shoving it down your throat fellas, the cowboys’ supermanly horsebutt-whipping cradle is geting another rockin’ courtesy of (surprise, surprise?) Willie Nelson.
With critics lauding Brokeback Mountain, Nelson thought it was time to release a song about how being a cowboy is soooo gay which he claims has been left in the dumpster for 20 years now.
"Cowboys Are Frequently, Secretly (Fond of Each Other)" may be the first gay cowboy song by a major recording artist. But it was written long before this year’s Oscar-nominated "Brokeback Mountain" made gay cowboys a hot topic.
Available exclusively through iTunes, the song features choppy Tex-Mex style guitar runs and Nelson’s deadpan delivery of lines like, "What did you think all them saddles and boots was about?" and "Inside every cowboy there’s a lady who’d love to slip out." [Yahoo News]
The cowboys gathering at the saloons are still too stunned to react, but the gays feel really happy that what they’ve been saying all along has been confirmed:
Fans (or not) in denial comment that Nelson is flat broke and only needed the cash or as this blogger would stress: "Willie’s smoked a lot of really good dope, and written alot of really weird songs. I don’t think this song is as meaningful as people are trying to make it."
Latest buzz is the Fab 5 rang Nelson for a makeover, ‘coz if he’s goin’ to come out the gays won’t have anybody in their sorority lookin’ like he hasn’t had a decent bath in a decade! Off with the facial hair puhleeaazzzeee!
Nelson warns you queers, though, not to start asking cowboys for their numbers. He says, "When you talk to a cowboy don’t treat him like he was a sister/Don’t mess with the lady that’s sleepin’ in each cowboy’s head." You know you’re aching for the song’s lyrics, so here it is.
Meanwhile, Brokeback Mountain remain a heavy favorite in the Oscars. Don’t let your sexual orientation get in they if you really want to vote for this film.

[...] Back to our main word, it does seem overearly to name it something of the year considering we haven’t even reached mid-year. Then again it did convince Willie Nelson to write a brokeback cowboy song That’ll claim a spot on E!’s most outrageous happenings of 2006. [...]
