Wayne Rooney in secret betting ring?

Here comes the money.

England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney should learn the lessons and move on from his reported £700,000 betting binge.

While the 20-year-old Manchester United star has quickly moved to quash speculation his gambling debts have led to a rift with England strike partner Michael Owen, Agent Neo feels Rooney should not ignore some valuable warning signs. People are saying he is an addict but that isn’t the case. To a normal man, the scale of that gambling debt is huge but £700,000 could just be a bit of fun to a Wayne Rooney.

Wayne RooneySir Alex Ferguson has already hit out at the lurid headlines that surrounded Rooney at the weekend and the player himself has totally rejected rumours of a dispute with Owen, whose business partner Stephen Smith, Rooney is alleged to owe the money to. The statement will no doubt help ease the fears of England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, who needs a row between two of his main stars like a hole in the head so close to a World Cup campaign.

The 20-year-old wild child, well known for his love of all things ladish, which recently included the ‘prostitute’ incident is said to have also lost his £25,000 Chrysler 300C to fellow better, Phil Bardsley. However, both parties strongly deny this. The baby-faced footballer, who is currently on a pitch salary of around £60,000-a-week, plus millions in sponsorship each year is refusing to pay off the £700,000 debt on the grounds that he was naively mislead.

Wayne Rooney stinks at gambling. We have some financial advice for all of you loyal readers out there. If Wayne Rooney puts his money on red, you are advised to put your money on black. If the reports are indeed true, this is the best thing that could have happened to him. Only he can stop but being in the papers will bring him to his senses. He has to learn his lesson and we hope it has hurt him because if it has then he will have stopped.

Which surely leaves our Wayne in line for trouble? Or not. Because Agent Neo tells us that gambling debts are not recoverable by law. Oddjack’s "sports betting expert" says that debts to bookies are debts of honour, and there is "precious little" honour among punters.

And virtually none among footballers…
