Forget March Madness, Kobe Bryant OWNS March
Thursday, March 29th, 2007
Kobe Bryant should be the MVP.
If for some reason Kobe Bryant gets screwed yet again of the MVP trophy then my man Rasheed Wallace should have it, otherwise, Kobe has my vote. And if you’ve been living under a rock lately, read this one and you’ll know why Kobe is most valuable.
Kobe Bryant OWNS March. Dick Vitale can talk about the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament all he wants but March has been all about No.24, Kobe Bryant. Jeez… Have you seen the guy score all those points this March?
Yep, it was Kobe’s version of March Madness, scoring no lower than 50 for FOUR STRAIGHT games.
Kobe Bryant started the streak against the Portland Trail Blazers on March 15 when he ALMOST broke his 81-point performance of last year. Kobe Bryant dropped 65 points, merely 16 points shy of tying his 81. Of course, when you’re talking about a ball hog like Kobe, 16 points is nothing.
The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Portland Trail Blazers, 116-111.
He followed that two days after with a 50-point performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves, leading Tinseltown to a 109-102 win. Yep, that’s 115 points in two games, better than what he came up with to follow up on his 81.
Again, Kobe Bryant dropped 60 in a 121-119 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on March 22 before dropping another 50 the day after in their 111-105 destruction of…

Real Kick-Ass MLB Baseball Pitchers to sign before the brand new 2007 MLB Baseball season begins
Thursday, March 29th, 2007
Believe it, it’s that time of the year when we talk about how important pitchers are in the coming MLB Baseball season.
Yeah yeah, I know, it’s STILL all about the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament as we count the days heading to the new MLB season in April. But for baseball fans, they couldn’t give a rat’s ass about Tyler Hansbrough and his mask or how it made him look like Rip Hamilton and Andrew Bout’s love child.
Hell, they don’t give a flying fuck if the Florida Gators can win the NCAA College Basketball title again either. They love baseball, nothing else matters. And yeah, as much as we love to see David Eckstein wrestle these days, it’s time to get yourselves ready for another war in the diamond.
As the 2007 MLB Baseball season nears, teams are definitely on the lookout to grab solid pitchers that will fire rockets even Roger Federer himself can’t return. Here are just some of the pitchers these teams should sign, if they want to make the sports headlines this year and put Barry Bonds and his steroids thing to rest.
Jon Lieber. This guy was damaged goods. Well, that’s what the Philadelphia Phillies thought anyway. Four months later, they found out Lieber has a little something left. Yep, Jon Lieber still has game after having a 3.38 ERA in his last 11 starts last season.
Jorge Julio. It seems that wherever Jorge Julio goes, trade rumors go with him. Yup, it’s getting to the point that if you want to know what the latest trade rumblings are, (rumblings?) just look for the guy and you’ll know. Well, for what it’s worth, Jorge Julio can still put up impressive numbers, the problem is…

2007 NCAA Final Four leaves March without the Madness
Tuesday, March 27th, 2007
Yep, the Madness in March is officially gone.
Of course, with the North Carolina Tar Heels already gone and out of the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament, what is there left to watch? Well, if you’re still going ga-ga over this annual college hoops spectacle, here are a couple of reasons why you shouldn’t and just wait for the next NFL Football season in September.
The MADNESS is GONE. This is the first time since 1993 that we have NCAA Final Four teams whose seeds don’t go below No.2. Yep, with top seeded teams Florida Gators and Ohio State Buckeyes going up against No.2 seeded clubs like the UCLA Bruins and the Georgetown Hoyas, this batch of the Final Four could very well be a little more predictable than usual.
”We had great parity throughout the tournament and the seeds held up,” said Thomas O’Connor, the athletic director of the George Mason Patriots. ”There’s nothing magical about it. That’s what makes college basketball a fantastic game. In any given year, you have situations like what occurred last year with us, and then you have what’s happening this year.”
You know, I wouldn’t normally agree with morons like this one but with no sign of the light blue North Carolina, I guess I would have to.
”When they seeded this thing, they hit it right on the nail,” Memphis Tigers head coach John Calipari said of the 10-member…

Who is the killer of Pakistan head coach Bob Woolmer in the 2007 Cricket World Cup murder case?
Tuesday, March 27th, 2007
ZERO.
So far, the Jamaican police has done a great job in finding out just who is the killer of Pakistan head coach Bob Woolmer. For all ya’ll who have been living under a rock lately, Pakistan head coach Bob Woolmer was killed following his Pakistan cricket team’s loss to Ireland, ultimately eliminating them from the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
The Jamaican police has been investigating the Bob Woolmer murder case ever since, and guess what, they don’t have any suspects yet whatsoever. NICE. Oh yeah, there were reports that say the Jamaican police did name a couple of suspects, but the authorities denied the claim.
Mark Shields, the Jamaican Deputy Police Commissioner, claimed these reports are ”totally wrong” and said that speculations like these are unhelpful. So, how close is the authorities really in naming one goddamn suspect?
He said police are ”nowhere near” naming names and emphasized that the probe was likely to take a long time. Mr. Shields also said the media speculation about the case was distressing to Woolmer’s family.
And what, telling them that you guys are ”nowhere near” naming suspects is not?
Shields told journalists that there were many potential suspects and even more potential witnesses, and that gathering information would take time. ”We are going to do it properly, thoroughly and professionally and at the end of it it may be that we might, we might identify a suspect from…”

Rasheed drops 60-foot buzzer beater in 1.5 seconds
Tuesday, March 27th, 2007
Well, THAT didn’t actually win the game, but you can already tell that the Denver Nuggets were beaten after that shot.
Holy cow, in an exciting game nobody saw coming, the heavily depleted Detroit Pistons, hosting the Denver Nuggets without stars Richard Hamilton and Chris Webber, just barely escaped the Palace of Auburn Hills with an improbable win over the red hot Nuggets. (Why the heck am I starting to crave for some McNuggets?)
Already down by five in the closing sequence of this NBA Basketball game, the Pistons were trying to score quickly to hopefully cut Denver’s five-point lead to three or two. BAM! First goal done, Pistons cut the five-point deficit to three with merely 1.5 seconds remaining in regulation.
All the Denver Nuggets needed to do was put the ball inbounds and let the remaining 1.5 seconds expire. Should be an easy one right? WRONG. In a stunning turn of events, the Denver inbounds play bounced off Allen Iverson, bounced off Tayshaun Prince before finding its way to Rasheed Wallace.
Rasheed Wallace threw up a 60-foot desperation shot. BAM! The basket was good. We’re going overtime.
The Denver Nuggets, probably trying to redeem themselves from a horrendous inbounds pass that cost them a win in regulation, led 106-103 in overtime. The only problem was, Rasheed Wallace was not done…

The Final Four Turtles we’ll ever see Mutate
Tuesday, March 27th, 2007
”Heroes in a half shell, turtle power.”
I hope I still had that one right. Yeah, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back and being a fan of the TMNT cartoon series myself while I was growing up, watching the same four turtles in the big screen brings back old memories indeed.
All four turtles are back; Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michaelangelo. And the movie begins after the defeat of their old arch nemesis, ”The Shredder.”
Apparently, the four turtles have now grown apart after defeating Shredder and will have to come back together as they welcome a new threat to the world. (As if Oprah Winfrey wasn’t enough right?)
Leonardo has
been traveling around the world trying to hone his skills, Raphael has been patrolling the streets as the masked vigilante named ”The Nightwatcher,” Donatello works as an information technology consultant and probably the silliest ”post Shredder” life belongs to Michaelangelo (a personal favorite of mine…) who works in children birthday parties as a masked mascot named ”Cowabunga Carl.”
Struggling to keep the family together, the turtles’ resident sensei, Splinter, realizes that strange things are starting to happen in New York. Immortal tech-industrialist Max Winters, who attempted to conquer the world three thousand years ago by amassing an army of monsters using an ancient device to open a portal during an alignment of nine stars, (wha?!?) is seemingly at work at the plot again.
In the process, he reawakens his siblings, called the ”Stone Generals,” from their sleep (the four having been recovered unknowingly by April O’Neil). Furthermore, Winters has enlisted the help of…

NBA whistles Rasheed Wallace for 18th Technical Foul
Monday, March 26th, 2007
Yep, Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace will now be suspended after every technical foul he gets in an NBA basketball game.
Jeez… The odds are up against the Detroit Pistons now huh? Rasheed Wallace, probably one of the most colorful personalities in the NBA, picked up his 18th technical foul of the season in their 90-89 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
And as far as technical fouls go this year, a player who commits more than 17 technical fouls will be suspended after every single one he commits next.
Rasheed Wallace was
called for technical foul no.18 for arguing a call in the second period of their game against the San Antonio Spurs. Wallace was suspended for the Pistons’ next game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Oh yeah, the Detroit Pistons won 121-95.
Detroit Pistons head coach Flip Saunders was not happy about these developments. Of course, not having your biggest low post threat will be a big blow, especially if the Pistons are making this run for the title.
”I wish they would review the whole 48 [minutes],” Detroit Pistons head coach Flip Saunders said Friday night. ”If they’re going to give him a ‘T’ for that, there should have been about four others called at least.”
An NBA player or coach receives an automatic one-game suspension after receiving his 18th technical foul in the same season. Every other technical beyond that (20, 22, 24, etc.) results in a…

2007 March Madness Bracket down to the Final Four
Monday, March 26th, 2007
These are dark days for the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Yep, the top seeded North Carolina Tar Heels were unceremoniously booted out of the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament by the Georgetown Hoyas. UNC led this game by TEN POINTS with SIX MINUTES remaining. What happened?
In a stunning turn of events, the Georgetown Hoyas got even for a coach Thompson and a player named Ewing. And yep, they did it against North Carolina to advance to the 2007 NCAA Final Four.
The Georgetown Hoyas, down by 11 points in the second half, rallied to force overtime before scoring 14 straight in the extra period to shock ”Tarheelia,” 96-84. And just like the old days, the Hoyas attack was led by a coach Thompson and a Patrick Ewing.
It was 1985 when coach John Thompson Jr. and the seven-foot Patrick Ewing were both becoming Hoyas legends in their era. Last Sunday, Georgetown Hoyas head coach John Thompson III was calling the shots and Patrick Ewing Jr. was making huge plays en route to the stunning upset of the…

Can the NASCAR Car of Tomorrow win at Martinsville?
Monday, March 26th, 2007
He he… How should I know? Well, for what it’s worth, it did gave Kyle Busch the fourth win of his young career.
Kyle Busch won at Bristol Motor Speedway NOT because of his ”Car of Tomorrow” but because Jeff Burton let him. How? Well, you have to read this one to find out just because I don’t have anything else more important to write about.
The teeny weenie Bristol Motor Speedway had 160,000 rednecks screaming at employers to give ‘em jobs. Oops… Wrong picture… Yeah, there were 160,000 people gathered around the Bristol Motor Speedway, watching Jeff Burton let Kyle Busch and his ”Car of Tomorrow” win the Food City 500.
In the final lap, Kyle Busch was leading a few fractions of a second ahead of Jeff Burton. Burton had the inside lane and could’ve given Busch the usual bump and run that made Bristol famous. Unfortunately, Burton just let Busch cross the checkered flag, giving this ”Car of Tomorrow” a nice welcome to NASCAR racing.
”I wanted to win badly, but bumping him out of the way isn’t winning in my opinion,” Jeff Burton said. ”I have a lot of respect for Kyle. He’s always raced me clean, and I returned that. Half the grandstands will say it was wrong and half will say it’s right, but that’s…”

That wife-beating, can’t wear my hair right, moron named Ron Artest of the Sacramento Kings is retiring
Monday, March 26th, 2007
Ron Ron, it’s about time.
Tell me, who would miss Ron Artest if ever he DID retire at the end of the 2007 NBA Basketball season? Well, I won’t. And yep, his teammate Mike Bibby won’t miss him as well.
As of press time, the moron named Ron Artest is not confirming nor denying whether he wants to retire or not but rumor has it that he has already told the Sacramento Kings that he wants to retire at the end of the season to spend more time with his family.
It was ”Big Nasty,” Corliss Williamson, who confirmed that Ron Artest told them he wants to retire. Apparently, Ron Ron sent text messages to several of their teammates saying that he wants to call it quits as far as NBA Basketball is concerned.
The possibility of the eight-year veteran walking away from the Kings after the season to focus on family life was also raised over the weekend at hiphopgame.com, where Artest has been posting journal entries this season.
But it should be noted that this isn’t the first time he’s brought up retirement. Before and after his 73-game suspension with Indiana during the 2004-05 season, Artest suggested numerous times publicly that he could be content without the NBA in his life.
Jeez… I’m really getting sick and tired of this guy.
What does Ron Artest have to say about the situation? ”If I think I want to retire, it doesn’t make me crazy. What’s so crazy about being home with your family? I don’t see anything so crazy about that. If people think that’s crazy, maybe they don’t know what it’s like to…”
