2007-08 NFL Football Week 9 Betting Picks

Jeez… Did you saw how dominant the New England Patriots were last week? 52 points! My… It doesn’t get any better than that.

Yep, the Patriots continue their undefeated streak this 2007-08 NFL football season, beating down the Redskins, 52-7, last Sunday. The Patriots are now 8-0 and are still on the running to become only the second NFL team to go through a season perfect since the Dolphins did it back in 1972.

While it was the Redskins last Sunday, the New England Patriots could be facing their toughest test yet this season as they meet the also undefeated Indianapolis Colts in what should be the biggest match-up of the season this Sunday on Week 9.

Randy MossThese two teams probably have the biggest rivalry in football today and both teams will try to put a road block on each other’s campaign by dealing the other team the very thing they don’t want these days.

A loss.

The 7-0 Indianapolis Colts, although still perfect as well like their rivals from Boston, are hovering under the radar if you will with the rest of us probably fixated at these Patriots. However, the Colts claim they like it that way as that will probably let them play without any pressure whatsoever from the media. Well, that’s what they think anyway.

The last time these two teams met, it was in the 2007 AFC championship game where the Colts, led by Peyton Manning of course, fueled a remarkable comeback in the second half to eliminate the shocked Patriots to advance to the Super Bowl.

Well, Tom Brady didn’t have Randy Moss then. And the rest of the Patriots were not this dominant yet. This Sunday, expect the New England Patriots to outlast the Indianapolis Colts -6.5 and let the rest of the world know that this season is their time to become champions again.

The Dallas Cowboys, the most recent team these Patriots handed with a first ever loss of the season, will be coming off a bye week to visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football.

After the Patriots probably brought them back to reality two weeks ago, Tony Romo and the rest of the Cowboys answered with a 24-14 win over the Minnesota Vikings the following week. Now that they’re coming off the off week, it’ll be interesting to see how they will fare against a Philadelphia Eagles team looking to keep climbing up the NFC East.

Probably what’s unsettling if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan is the fact that the Eagles haven’t won anything in division games. They are 0-2 in games against their division rivals and it won’t help them when they play the division leaders from Dallas on Sunday night.

Who’ll you pick? Well, it doesn’t matter if the Philadelphia Eagles will be home, expect the Dallas Cowboys to beat Philly -3.5 in the return of Terrell Owens to the city that virtually loves to hate him.

On Monday Night Football, two defensive monsters will be going at it as the ‘Steel Curtain’ of the Pittsburgh Steelers play the… um… Baltimore Ravens. (Somebody tell me just what is it these Ravens call their defense… Please…)

The Pittsburgh Steelers, after a dismal season following their Super Bowl win last season, are now back with a division-leading 5-2 record in the AFC East. The Baltimore Ravens, on the other hand, are sitting in second place with the surprising Cleveland Browns.

Although defense remains their core, the way the Ravens finished games this season seemed to have no defense at all. If it wasn’t for that 22-3 win against St. Louis last Oct. 14, these guys could lose their identity as one of the best defenses in all of football.

And if that will be the case this Monday, you can very well expect a football from Ben Roethlisberger land on Hines Ward because while both teams play good defense, the Steelers can also dance like crazy if this contest turns into an offensive one.

Oh yes, the Steelers will beat the Ravens, -6.5 on Monday Night Football.
