2007 NCAA College Football Week 8 Betting Picks

The Buckeyes are finally on top heading to Week 8.

And although Rose Bowl officials don’t wanna’ see these Buckeyes play at this season’s Rose Bowl or any other BCS Bowl game for that matter, Ohio State is lording over the rest of the league this 2007 NCAA college football season and not even Rose Bowl CEO Mitch Dorger can do a damn thing about it.

On Saturday, the 7-0 Ohio State Buckeyes will play the Michigan State Spartans as the No.1 team of the nation for the first time this season. Yep, the Buckeyes have avoided these series of upsets so far this season and when they go up against the Spartans, I reckon it’ll be staying that way.

Ohio State BuckeyesWhy? Well, if there’s one thing you can say about these Buckeyes, it would have to be the fact that they are probably the most consistent team in the league. Yes, the Michigan State Spartans don’t even stand a chance too.

The Buckeyes started the year ranked 11th after claiming the top spot in every poll last season. Except of course, the final one when they lost to the eventual BCS champs, Florida Gators. Last Saturday, Ohio State beat Kent State in convincing fashion, 48-3, and with LSU and California each dealt with shocking upsets, the Buckeyes took over the top of the food chain.

Expect the Buckeyes to keep on winning on Saturday.

Meanwhile, former top dogs of the NCAA, USC Trojans, have a key match-up on Saturday against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Despite moving down the college football hierarchy this year, the Trojans should still be considered as BCS title contenders at No.14 and when they go up against a struggling Irish team, they should still be considered heavy favorites too.

Sure, this is the Trojans’ lowest ranking in five years, and sure, Notre Dame still leads their all-time series with USC, 42-31-5, but unlike Notre Dame, the Trojans have something in mind to keep them motivated and that’s to finally play for the national championship by season’s end after missing it since Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush went pro.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the Trojans probably have the advantage now after winning their last five meetings with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish?

Notre Dame rivals, Michigan Wolverines, are having quite a struggle this 2007 NCAA college football season too. For a football program as big as Michigan’s barely making the top 25 football teams of the nation is definitely not the way you want to show off your school’s colors.

The Wolverines will visit Memorial Stadium to face the Illinois Fighting Illini and if these Wolverines have plans of clawing (no pun intended) their way back to the BCS title picture, jeez… they better get rid of Illinois on Saturday quickly.

After starting the season 0-2, the Michigan Wolverines went 5-0. Yes they do have momentum when they face-off with the Illini on Saturday and despite having that pathetic start to the season, they are still tied with the No.1 ranked team of the nation, Ohio State, for the conference lead.

For the Wolverines’ sake, they better win because no matter how bad they suck this season as long as they win these conference games, they can still end up with a BCS Bowl game by the end of the year. Imagine that.
