Airline offers 1 Million Free Seats! Macau, here I come
My money’s safe with me until I get to the casino. By taking a free trip to Macau.
AirAsia is giving away 1 million free seats to flights around Asia — including free travel to Macau, hailed as the new Las Vegas and hottest casino gambling mecca today. All the better to have more moolah for this China region’s leading tourist attraction: Macau casinos.

On the Cotai Strip, Macau’s answer to the Las Vegas Strip, casino resorts are a neat package of gaming spaces (slots, baccarat, blackjack, roulette, poker, etc.) plus fine dining, retail shopping, entertainment
shows, and eyecandy like Sin City. There’s Wynn Macau, Sands Macau, MGM Grand Macau, as well as the Mandarin Oriental and Hyatt Regency Macau hotel casinos.
For local-flavored casino games — like sic bo, dai siu, and fan tan — I’ve got Casino Lisboa and the rest of the Stanley Ho clan’s casinos for hardcore gamblers, or those of Hong Kong’s Galaxy Entertainment, like the new StarWorld and Emperor Grand casino hotel co-owned by Asian superstar Jackie Chan.
You can beat me to the Macau free trip, but I’m not running out of options. AirAsia’s 1 million free seats are flying to a host of destinations: in Malaysia alone, free trips to places like Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang, and Johor Bahru, which is linked to Singapore. (Hey, Singapore casinos like Sands Singapore are opening — AirAsia, another wave of free seats, perhaps?)
Malaysia has its own Las Vegas style gambling, too. Genting Highlands has Genting Casino (Casino de Genting), voted World’s Leading Casino Resort at the 2005 World Travel Awards, and First World Hotel, presently the world’s largest hotel, with a total of 6,118 hotel rooms.
AirAsia has free travel to Clark (Manila) in the Philippines, where PAGCOR’s Casino Filipino shops offers Las Vegas style casino games in various locations. Casino Filipino Mimosa is the country’s own Hollywood-themed casino tucked in a leisure estate, complete with fine dining, bar, shopping, and live entertainment.
As if that’s not enough, AirAsia’s free seats are reaching Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiangmai in Thailand; Jakarta and Bali in Indonesia; Phnom Penh in Cambodia; and Xiamen in China. That’s an incredible lot of beaches, spa, nature tripping, cultural tours, tropical getaways, bargain shopping, and Buddhist temples.
At the end of the day, I’m still going for the classy Macau casino hotels. Where sightseeing means spectacular fountains and aquariums sans replicated Paris or New York (not yet), slot machines called hungry tigers, Chinese highrollers far more aggressive than in Las Vegas and with encyclopedic knowhow of good luck and fortune that might rub off on me.
