Another Upset this 2007 NCAA College Football Season saw No.2 South Florida losing to Rutgers

Yeah yeah yeah, it’s yet another shocking upset in what has been a crazy 2007 NCAA college football season.

But then again, this is STILL the South Florida Bulls and if they were not ranked as high as No.2 in the 2007 NCAA college football season, you’d probably expect South Florida to lose to Rutgers right?

Well, ranking or no ranking, the South Florida Bulls lost to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 30-27 in the middle of Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway, NJ. South Florida’s unexpected climb atop the BCS rankings were given a harsh slap of reality as Rutgers nation celebrated right in their face after scoring probably their biggest win yet.

South Florida BullsTrick plays were the theme of the day and with the way this 2007 NCAA college football season has been going, why not?

Rutgers Scarlet Knights third string QB Andrew DePaola threw a 15-yard touchdown pass from a fake field goal attempt to give Rutgers the lead in the third quarter after going for a fake punt to give them another lead early into the game.

”We just went out there and played our best football,” Rutgers Scarlet Knights running back Ray Rice said. Rice played a more conventional game, rushing for a whopping 181 yards on 39 carries.

The South Florida Bulls were coming into this game looking to prove to the rest of the league that they do deserve the No.2 ranking. I guess nothing was proven after this setback eh?

”I thought we had a chip on our shoulders tonight,” South Florida Bulls cornerback Trae Williams said after the game. ”That we would prove something to the nation. That we are deserving of the ranking. Obviously, we didn’t get it done tonight.”

Don’t sweat it Trae, this is after all, the theme of the college football season.
