Are the Chicago Cubs cursed in MLB Baseball?

seth-edward-oneal.jpgLou Piniella was supposed to be the answer to all the troubles surrounding the Chicago Cubs.

But after a couple of games and a fresh start to the 2007 MLB baseball season, lo and behold, the Chicago Cubs still suck. Hell, they lost their first three games and have stumbled coming out of the gates with a miserable 4-7 start.

And to think they actually thought Lou Piniella was the answer. He he… Well, for what it’s worth, Cubs team manager Lou Piniella is now a true Cubs manager, and when we talk about Cubs managers, these are people who have mastered the art of losing.

chicago_cubs.jpgThey don’t have to like it but man, if you lose THIS much, you’ll get used to it eventually. Piniella has, and it’s really taking its toll on the old man. Hell, he finally snapped on his second weekend with this godforsaken MLB baseball team (If you can still call ‘em that…). On a day when his ace, Carlos Zambrano, couldn’t hold the 5-0 lead he took to the mound in the fifth inning, Piniella was asked by a reporter what wasn’t working for his team.

‘’What the hell do you think isn’t working?'’ Piniella shouted. ‘’You see the damn game.'’

Piniella made a comment about the same team he got from Dusty Baker, a guy who felt what it’s like to lose a whopping 96 games last season. ‘’I can start to see some of the ways this team has lost ballgames,'’ Piniella said. ‘’I can see it. We have to correct it.'’

Why can’t the Cubs win? Are they significantly improved after adding Alfonso Soriano, Ted Lilly, Jason Marquis, Cliff Floyd, Mark DeRosa and Daryle Ward? Will Piniella come to regret following the likes of Jim Riggleman, Don Baylor and Baker to a franchise that has been a graveyard for managerial careers?

They have an entire season to find out.

Can Lou Piniella lead the Chicago Cubs to win the 2007 MLB World Series? Who will win the 2007 MLB World Series Championship? Bodog has the odds.

New York Yankees 7/2

Boston Red Sox 9/1

Detroit Tigers 5/1
