Beasts of the East collide as the Pistons face the Celtics
And somehow, someway, I’ll try to root for one team instead of both.
And in case you didn’t get that, I like both of these powerhouse teams from the Eastern conference. I’ve been a Pistons fan for a long time now and I’m beginning to like Boston since they already have a roster I figured I can root for all the way to the NBA Finals this 2007-08 NBA basketball season.
On Wednesday night, these two teams will play each other with both ranking as the top two teams in the East. Hell, these two teams are so good that they are two of the top three teams in the league overall, with the other one being the injury-plagued San Antonio Spurs from the West.
So who should you put your money on? Easy. It should be the Boston Celtics since they haven’t lost yet at home. Sure, the Pistons will definitely be one nasty bunch of visitors trying to take over the Boston Ga… TD Bankno… or something Garden but hey, as long as those guys have Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce on one goddamn team, you should take them to beat any spread.
However, the Detroit Pistons are at their best when they are entering a game as heavy underdogs. Remember when they beat the star-studded Los Angeles Lakers roster of Shaq, Kobe, Karl Malone and Gary Payton 4 games to 1 in the 2004 NBA Finals? Yep, I’m sticking with my guys on Wednesday night.
Sure, the Celtics won nine games in a row with a still undefeated home stand but you gotta’ lose some time right? And I reckon that first loss at home will be handed to them by the Pistons.
The Pistons and the Celtics are so evenly matched. They both score collectively. While Detroit has Billups, Hamilton, Prince and Wallace, Boston has the three-headed monster of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce to score for them.
Both of their benches can score too, as both the Pistons and the Celtics bench rank at the top of the rankings board in terms of bench production. This should be one heckuva’ basketball game on a cold Wednesday night.
And, as always, I’ll be rooting for the 313.
