Can the Colorado Rockies beat the Boston Red Sox in Game 2 to tie the 2007 MLB World Series 1-1?
It was all red in Game 1, leaving the Rockies… well… ROCKED.
The 2007 MLB World Series was finally underway as the Boston Red Sox, this season’s comeback team yet again, simply trashed the Colorado Rockies, 13-1, to take the 1-0 lead in this best-of-seven affair for baseball’s richest prize.
The Boston Red Sox were probably still fuming with momentum after shocking the Cleveland Indians, then leading 3-1 and one win away from advancing to the World Series, winning three straight games to end the Tribe’s season in seven games.
Facing a well-rested Colorado Rockies team in Game 1 of the World Series, the Red Sox were simply on fire while exposing how rusty this Colorado team really was. Hell, Boston jumped on Colorado right from the get-go, scoring three runs in the very first inning to take the early 3-0 lead.
The Colorado Rockies did answer with a run of their own at the top of the 2nd inning. That, however, would be the only thing they’d be scoring in Game 1 as the Boston Red Sox simply dominated them some more with two more runs in the 4th and a massive seven-game inning in the 5th to virtually put Colorado away.
Josh Beckett, Boston’s star pitcher who probably set-up this remarkable Red Sox comeback back in Game 5 of the ALCS against Cleveland, was again dominant on the mound and showing just how hungry this Boston team is to winning it all this year.
‘’I executed just enough pitches today to survive,'’ Josh Beckett said. ‘’That’s a good lineup over there. You can tell how hungry they are.'’
Boston’s win in Game 1 sets a record for runs and margin of victory in a World Series opener. The Boston Red Sox also finished with 17 hits, becoming the first club since 1925 with eight doubles in a World Series.
Can these guys be beaten by a Colorado Rockies team probably still looking to have their form back? Game 2 is this Thursday and you’d probably see how bad the Rockies will get rocked again.
