Devin Hester is waaay too fast in Madden NFL 2008
It seems Chicago Bears return man Devin Hester has made a fan out of John Madden.
”BOOM THERE GOES THE DYNAMITE!” Sorry, can’t help it. He he… Yep, Devin Hester made Madden history, earning a 100 speed rating in the Madden NFL 2008 video game, making him Madden’s very first 100-speed man in the history of the EA Sports franchise.
NFL Football players used to covet two things while waiting for the annual installment of EA Sports’ Madden franchise, to be the cover athlete and to have good in-game ratings.
Well, I guess these guys don’t want to be the cover athlete anymore after all those Madden cover boys getting injured in the same season their respective covers were unveiled but they still want to have great in-game ratings nevertheless.
And speaking of in-game ratings, Devin Hester has the best speed rating in Madden’s 2008 installment.
Devin Hester, the kick returner for the Chicago Bears, is the first player in the series’ history to land a perfect rating in speed. An Electronic Arts representative confirmed that Hester was given a 100 rating in speed in the upcoming Madden NFL 2008, beating the previous mark of 99 set by cornerbacks Deion Sanders and Charles Woodson, wide receiver Randy Moss, and others.
”That’s just about the best thing you could have told me,” Devin Hester said. ”It’s an honor. I don’t know what to say, really.”
Devin Hester tore up opposing special teams last year, returning an NFL-record six kicks for touchdowns in his rookie season. For good measure, the Chicago Bears speed demon returned the first kickoff of Super Bowl XLI for a touchdown, the first time the feat has ever been accomplished.
As for the rest of the Bear’s ratings? ”My defensive awareness was low, too low,” Hester said, ”and I definitely need to break more tackles. On a few of my returns last year I feel like I showed what I can do in that category.”
