Frustration sinks in as 2007 F1 Season draws near

What’s up with these Formula One drivers?

As the brand new F1 season draws near, (I can’t wait!) some ”professional” F1 drivers are still bitching about basically everything; their team, the car, the engine and even the tires, instead of just helping their respective teams to prepare for this year’s brewing F1 battle.

What’s up? Are these guys really frustrated or are they just having too much pressure lately, with all these expectations pinned on these guys already?

alonso_fisichella.jpgDefending world champion, Fernando Alonso, is one of those drivers. He will enter the brand new 2007 F1 season with a new team, McLaren Mercedes, after winning two world championships with Renault.

Is he happy with his new team? Um… NO.

Fernando Alonso said that his McLaren Mercedes car is NOT EVEN CLOSE to being ready for Australia (where the first grand prix of the season will take place…) and they are running out of time. Ouch.

As for his former team? This is what he had to say.

”Renault will start the year well, but they will get worse, as usual.”

Another F1 driver not happy about his car heading to the brand new 2007 F1 season is veteran Jarno Trulli of Toyota. The Toyota TF 107 has been plagued with reliability issues and Trulli, being the seasoned veteran that he is, remains unsure whether this godforsaken team in Toyota can even keep pace with the best of them.

”I have not done many laps, so I cannot judge the car yet, I hope in the next test we will find out. We had some problems in Jerez and also in Valencia, it’s still early days,” Toyota driver Jarno Trulli said.

The 32-year old is frustrated that he has not been able to complete much mileage in the new car.

”We have had too many problems around the car to really judge it. I have not been able to change the set up at all. We are still running with the same set-up as we started.”

Definitely not something you want to hear with the brand new F1 season closing in.

Can Fernando Alonso lead McLaren Mercedes to a world title? Who will win the F1 drivers championship? Bodog has the odds.

Kimi Raikkonen 5/4

Fernando Alonso 9/5

Giancarlo Fisichella 18/1

Jenson Button 11/1
