Hold on a doggone minute, Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre will return for 17th NFL Season
I guess watching the demise of the NFC Conference representatives, Chicago Bears, at the Super Bowl, was simply frustrating for Favre.
Either that or Brett Favre thinks he can do a better job for the NFC than what Rex Grossman did for his Chicago Bears and the entire conference against the Indianapolis Colts at Super Bowl XLI.
Well, that’s without question. Brett Favre WILL DO a waaay better job than Rex Grossman in big time games like the one we just witnessed. Even at 37. Heck, Favre will still be better than this wimp even at 50.
And so, for the third straight time, the ultimate Packer, Brett Favre, is postponing retirement to don his no.4 Green Bay Packers jersey for his 17th NFL Football season. Yep, not even Father Time can stop this maniac.
Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson said the three-time MVP called him to say he was ”going to give it another shot” and return for his 17th NFL season, thus bringing his now-annual flirtation with retirement to an end far earlier than he had in the previous two offseasons. ”I am so excited about coming back,” the 37-year-old Green Bay Packers quarterback said. ”We have a good nucleus of young players. We were 8-8 last year, and that’s encouraging.”
Thompson said Brett Favre knew it was better for the team to make a decision earlier than later.
”There were fewer uncertainties going into this offseason,” Thompson said. ”Last year there was a coaching change and other things that I think they had to work through, but you’ll have to ask him specifically about that. But all along, I mean, he’s a football guy, he’s a coach’s son, so he understands a football team.”
”In our conversations prior to the end of the season, I knew he was having a good time and he liked the team,” Thompson said.
And yep, Brett Favre couldn’t agree more. ”My offensive line looks good, the defense played good down the stretch,” Favre said. ”I’m excited about playing for a talented young football team.”
What if Brett Favre fails to win the big one at Super Bowl XLII? My best bet is, he’ll come back for more again and he’ll keep on coming back until he does a John Elway exit. Yep, only a Super Bowl win will end the odyssey of no.4, Brett fucking Favre.
