L.A. Galaxy loses while David Beckham sits out game
Apparently, David Beckham missed the MLS benches so much that he decided to keep his ass pressed on that bench one more time.
Oh yeah, as far as the Los Angeles Galaxy is concerned, they lost to the New England Revolution, 1-0, in a picture many L.A. Galaxy fans have now grown familiar with, Beckham NOT in his uniform, sitting down while resting his sore ankle.
Yep, David Beckham, since making the move from the Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid to the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS soccer, is yet to make his start for his new team. This is the same guy who they bought for a whopping $32.5 million five-year contract.
Judging by the way his stay with his team looked so far, it looks like David Beckham has now become nothing more but a rather expensive decoration in the Los Angeles Galaxy bench.
And to think Becks was suppose to be the guy who’ll save U.S. soccer in this 2007 MLS soccer season. Yeah sure, the guy finally made his highly anticipated MLS soccer debut last Thursday, (if you can call it that after only playing for 21 minutes…) but after that game against D.C. United, a game which they lost too by the way, he was back on the bench Sunday, giving value to the dollar his fans paid just to see his ass play.
As for the rest of the game, the New England Revolution came up with a one-nil win over the Beckham-less Galaxy, thanks to a Taylor Twellman goal in the 55th minute. About 35,402 fans were forced to buy four-game ticket packs just to see David Beckham play but unfortunately, their idol didn’t show.
Hey, at least they got an autograph from Becks. That probably stopped them from hollering obscenities at the pitch Sunday.
‘’My ankle flared up a bit after the game the other day, and it’s swollen up a little bit from flying,'’ David Beckham said Saturday after practicing in Foxborough. ‘’We’ll have to see how it is. It was fine running out there a little bit, but that’s all I really tried on the field.'’
What does he care? He still gets his $32.5 million anyway right? Fans of the pop icon should get that by now.
