Mets meet streaking Yankees in a battle for New York

The Yankees and the Mets will resume their storied rivalry in a three-game ‘’subway series” that will start Friday.

Yep, it’s all about baseball in New York City as the New York Yankees and the New York Mets will meet for three straight games that will stretch this Friday until Sunday. Bad news for the Mets, the New York Yankees are just firing in all cylinders.

Coming to this ‘’subway series” with the Mets, the New York Yankees are owners of the longest winning streak in the 2007 MLB baseball season, winning NINE straight games to put them over the .500 mark. The Yankees are now second-best in the American League East, trailing their ”other” rival, the Boston Red Sox.

After their dismal performances ny_yankees.jpgon the diamond, it seems the New York Yankees have finally got it together and it’s not even because of the return of Roger Clemens. (Then again, maybe it is but who am I kidding… The guy should just fucking retire or something…)

While the Yanks began winning all those nine games, the Mets all of a sudden, lost the form that propelled them at the top of the National League East at this point of the 2007 MLB baseball season. Yep, it definitely looks like the bad karma the Yankees have been having earlier took the subway to get the unfortunate Mets.

The New York Mets lost five straight games which makes you wonder how the heck are they still at the top of the NL East. Oh yeah, the pathetic Atlanta Braves are in the same godforsaken division.

In this three-game season series against the Bronx bombers, the New York Mets have to stop one guy in pinstripes. Obviously, it’s Alex Rodriguez. Jeez… A-Rod, after all the drama he had before the 2007 MLB baseball season started, is having quite the MVP year many Yankee fans have been waiting for.

A-Rod leads the league in home runs this season, (yep, NOT Barry Bonds…) and is definitely the leading candidate for MVP honors. Heck, he didn’t even started against the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday and yet, he still had three hits and figured in all three scoring rallies in a convincing 7-1 win for their 9th straight victory.

God help the Mets.

Can the New York Yankees beat the New York Mets in this three-game subway series starting Friday? Bodog has the odds.

New York Yankees -165
