NFL Football Playoffs begin Road to Super Bowl XLI
Yep, the second season of NFL Football is finally here as only 12 teams got the invite to play out of 32 teams coming out of the gates last September.
Why is it called the second season? Well, it is a chance for these NFL Football teams to start over. You see, it won’t matter if you were PERFECT coming in to the NFL playoffs or just barely making it at 8-8. What matters is you have to WIN every goddamn game, lose and you’ll go home.
Beautiful ain’t it?
The AFC Conference is regarded as the stronger side of NFL Football these days.
With teams like the New England Patriots, the Indianapolis Colts, the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers under one group, the AFC will just be stronger and stronger in the next five years or so.
This year, the AFC’s playoff seeding is as follows:
- 1.San Diego Chargers
2.Baltimore Ravens
3.Indianapolis Colts
4.New England Patriots
5.New York Jets
6.Kansas City Chiefs
Yep, the defending Super Bowl XL champions, Pittsburgh Steelers, failed to make it this year. The Chargers and the Ravens, both earning the top two playoff spots in the AFC, will have a first round bye as the rest play to determine which team will move on. The no.3 Colts will host the no.6 Chiefs while the no.4 Patriots welcome the red hot Jets at Foxboro.
On the other side of things, the NFC Conference will probably have the most exciting playoff match-ups, with it being the weaker conference and having almost identical NFL Football teams under its wing.
Unlike the AFC which has powerhouse teams like the Colts and the Patriots ready to pound on their playoff rivals for blowout wins, this league doesn’t have any NFC team that can really be called a powerhouse.
The top-seeded team in the NFC, the Chicago Bears, are susceptible to upsets because of inconsistencies at the quarterback position while the Dallas Cowboys, one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl a month ago, just kept on losing and losing the last couple of weeks, dropping them from no.2 all the way down to no.5.
Yep, the NFC is one frantic conference without any clear favorite whatsoever to win the division. Nevertheless, this side of the NFL Football playoffs should give us more excitement and drama just because of the way this conference shaped up to be this year. Besides, the NFC do have the controversial Terrell Owens from Dallas.
The NFC Conference playoff seeding is as follows:
- 1.Chicago Bears
2.New Orleans Saints
3.Philadelphia Eagles
4.Seattle Seahawks
5.Dallas Cowboys
6.New York Giants
The Bears and the Saints, with the top two seeds in the conference will have the first week of the playoffs off. The no.4 Seahawks, last year’s NFC Champions, will host the no.5 Cowboys while the struggling New York Giants, still struggling even after earning the last seed in the NFC playoffs, will visit probably the hottest team in NFL Football the past few weeks, the no.3 Philadelphia Eagles.
The Philadelphia Eagles could very well be this year’s NFL Playoffs Cinderella team, rallying for the playoffs and earning home field advantage in the first round without franchise QB Donovan McNabb.
However, the same can be said of the New Orleans Saints, who just brought back NFL Football to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina left the city in ruins; the Indianapolis Colts who just can’t find the way to be as dominating in the playoffs as they are during the regular season; the New York Jets finally having starting quarterback Chad Pennington healthy after years of dealing with injuries; the Dallas Cowboys who found gold when they decided to replace veteran quarterback Drew Bledsoe with Tony Romo, now an icon in Dallas, Texas.
Yep, all these storylines will come to play once the NFL Playoffs kicks off. This should be another frantic ride for the Super Bowl, now on its 41st year.
Can Tony Romo lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl title? Who will win Super Bowl XLI at Miami, Florida? Sports Interaction has the outright odds on that one.

The CHICAGO BEARS to win Super Bowl 2007 at 4.50 is not a bad bet, 8 on New England Patriots to win SuperBowl 2007 game is a steal at this point, 7 on Indianapolis Colts to WIN the NFL Super bowl XLI is CHEAP – I think this should be 10/1 – maybe 7/1 for the Colts to reach the SuperBowl. I wouldn’t bet on the Dallas Cowboys to win, much less reach the Super Bowl – definitely not at 15/1 – maybe at 30/1 I will think about it.

As much as I would want to see Rex Grossman succeed, the Chicago Bears showed last Sunday that they are not consistent enough to win a Super Bowl. An offense like that will definitely cost you football games.
If I was a betting man, I might just bet on the heavy favorites, San Diego Chargers this year. Although we saw in Super Bowl XL those Seahawks losing to the Steelers despite being the heavy favorites.
Hmm… This is a tough one but the Indianapolis Colts is a good bet too. Or not… Or… yeah, the Colts it is. Although I still wanna see Tony Romo get to the big dance and win it all.
Are you confused yet? He he…
