Nobody cares if Kaka wins the FIFA World Player of the Year in Football, Soccer or whatever it is you call it…

Probably because most of us just wouldn’t give a rat’s ass about the game or just can’t seem to understand it.

As for the rest of the world, Brazil midfielder Kaka will be recognized around the world as the 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year after receiving an astounding 1,047 votes, that’s twice as much ahead of his closest rival, Messi, who got 504.

As for my boy from that little club dubbed Manchester United, Man-U suprstar Cristiano Ronaldo finished third in the voting race with 426 votes. All three were picked as finalists from a list of 30 candidates, voted in by team captains and managers.

KakaApparently, these guys just don’t care what their fans think. Nevertheless, this would be the third time Kaka received some award this calendar year. He was also awarded with the European soccer’s Golden Ball, as well as the World Soccer magazine’s player of the year award.

‘’Tonight is a really special night for me,'’ Kaka said after being awarded with the trophy. ‘’When I was young, I dreamed of becoming a professional player for Sao Paulo and playing one game for the national team.'’

Kaka is now the 5th Brazilian to win the title, joining the likes of Ronaldo who won the title three times, Ronaldinho and Romario who both won it twice and Rivaldo who won it once.

Second place finisher Messi may have fell short of the FIFA World Player of the Year award but he still owns the goal that propelled him to be compared to one of the most legendary names in all of football, Diego Maradona.

Asked about being compared with the Argentine legend, Messi said, ‘’I just want to become a better player and hope to win a couple of titles with a good team, and that’s about it.'’
