Online Gambling Ban Making You Cranky? Try Proxy Betting

We’re all getting cranky with this UIGEA, and I know that in countries where online casino gambling is banned, the sentiments are the same.

But like Michael Crichton said, “Life will always find a way.” Now I know he meant it to describe how gigantic dinosaurs can spring back to life, which we don’t want to happen, but it can be applied to other stuff as well. Like online gambling.

They may invent every crazy ways of sending online gaming to extinction, but they won’t necessarily cut off its head. Players and industry players will only find better ways to keep Internet casinos alive. So to say it loudly, we keep getting smarter while the enemies keep getting dumber.

Proxy Betting For example, have you heard of proxy betting? Somewhere in the northern tip of the Philippines, Internet gaming companies allow players from all over the world to bet on their favorite games, like black jack and baccarat, via proxies. How? With Web Casinos.

Games and tournaments are video streamed online where players can watch from where they are. At the same time, their “proxies” do the betting for them based on their instructions using a VOIP (voice over Internet protocol).

Make no mistake, web gambling is still banned in the Philippines as well as in other Asian countries like China, Singapore, and Hong Kong. But the freeport zone in Cagayan province have allowed online gaming business to flourish.

A group called First Cagayan has been appointed sole Master Licensor to develop and regulate internet gaming by the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA). CEZA has the legal authority to independently approve applications without the prior acceptance from a government agency like its gaming monitor PAGCOR.

Besides, if I were to advice these countries, I would tell them to take advantage of the US’s moronic views on the matter and win the huge chunk of online casino players who have been deprived of their favorite pastimes.

But in the meantime, proxy betting may be the next best thing until George Dubya’s army up the Hill loosen up.

[Here’s a Tip: There’s an Online Casino site accepting bets from the US. You don’t need proxy betting here…]

I am investor relations for First Cagayan and for its listed parent company - Leisure and Resorts World Corporation.

The law that created the Cagayan Freeport Zone (Republic Act 7922) mandates CEZA as the body to manage the zone. First Cagayan was granted a 25 year extension last year to help government develop the development of online casinos (video streamed via internet) as well as proxy betting. The difference is that for proxy betting, our operators have a land-based casino in Cagayan that allows proxies to take bets from their principals who communicate to them via VOIP.

And yes, RA 7922 gives the Cagayan Freeport legal basis to manage and regulate casino operations including a joint venture with First Cagayan, that is independent of PAGCOR.
