It seems the Philadelphia 76ers just can’t run out of AI’s eh?

When Andre Iguodala joined the Philadelphia 76ers 2 ½ years ago, it was A.I., Allen Iverson, leading the team. Iguodala was a rookie then, trying to learn the ropes from one of the best players in NBA Basketball.

Now that Philly sent Allen Iverson to the Denver Nuggets, the 76ers are now leaning on their new A.I., Andre Iguodala, for leadership and probably a trip back to the NBA Finals some day.

This Philadelphia 76ers team is Andre Iguodala’s team now. Iguodala has become the Sixers’ leading scorer with almost 20 points a game and unlike Dwyane Wade in Miami, he has accepted the leadership role in the locker room.

Andre Iguodala is Philadelphia’s new go-to-guy. And in a city where underdogs are glorified, Andre Iguodala is every bit of an underdog there is to be.

Against the Golden State Warriors, Andre Iguodala further solidified his new role in Philly. He dropped a triple-double on Golden State in a season already lost, probably. Iguodala dropped 25 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds in a losing effort to the Warriors. It’s his second triple-double of the season and third of his young NBA career.

Against the New Jersey Nets, it was the Andre Iguodala show once again, Iguodala dropped a double-double performance of 23 points and 15 assists. Philly’s new A.I. was three rebounds shy of a triple double.

Wow.

If Iguodala keeps this up, the Philadelphia 76ers could be one heckuva team next season, provided they keep on losing this year, bad enough to draft the likes of Greg Oden or Kevin Durant at the coming NBA Draft with an Andre Iguodala slowly becoming quite a star in NBA Basketball.
