Return of Eddie Jones won’t stop Miami Heat Demise
Heck, he’s 35 years old for crying out loud.
Yep, in what could be one of few feel-good stories for the Miami Heat this NBA Basketball season, Eddie Jones made his return to the Miami Heat lineup after his sabbatical with the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Miami Heat acquired some much-needed defensive help by signing Eddie Jones for the remainder of the season. However, Eddie won’t be much of a help to the Heat defense anyway, being as old as he is right now.
But hey, Eddie’s back and judging by the way Miami’s NBA Basketball season turned out this year, that could very well be the single feel-good story they’ll be having this season. Oh c’mon, all ya’ll expecting this Miami Heat team to get it together again just like last season’s ridiculous championship run is just plain naïve.
Eddie Jones, 35, was released by the Memphis Grizzlies after the team bought out the final season of contract. He was set to earn $15.7 million this season, but reportedly gave back about $300,000 to leave Memphis after 1 ½ seasons.
Jones said he strongly considered signing with the Dallas Mavericks, but decided instead to come back to familiar territory. Jones, a 6-6 guard, is a Pompano Beach native and spent five seasons with the Heat from 2000 to 2005.
”I’m just happy to be here where I have an opportunity,” said Jones, who led the Heat in scoring in four of his five seasons in Miami. ”It’s still home. I’m just trying to get it right. It’s the Eastern Conference, and I feel like this team is going to get right.”
Yeah sure. And I have Paris Hilton in my bedroom every night.
Can Eddie Jones help the Miami Heat to make it to the NBA Playoffs? Who will win the 2007 NBA Championship? Here are some odds from Bodog:
Miami Heat 4/1 (boo!)
