Who’ll play in the 2008 College Football BCS Title Game?
With the way this season has been, how the heck should I know?!?
In case you’ve been living under a rock lately, (or just won’t give a rat’s ass about college football…) the 2007 NCAA college football season has been, quite frankly, THAT cruel to sports bettors and handicappers.
YEP, just when you thought that the team heavily favored to beat their rivals on any given week would win for sure, BAM, another upset unfolds.
That’s exactly what happened to the then No.1 team of the nation, the Ohio State Buckeyes this week and to
some other teams as well who got to the top of the BCS rankings only to lose to a college football team from Timbuktu.
And so, with the mad finishes we’ve had so far, a new No.1 team in the country was christened and this time, the LSU Tigers reign. The Tigers have already beaten FIVE other teams that were ranked at the time they went up against them. These are Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama and Florida.
LSU had to win its share of close games, with four games decided by seven points or fewer. LSU beat the Florida Gators by four points, Auburn by six and Alabama by seven. The Tigers lost to then-No. 17 Kentucky 43-37 on Oct. 13. A 12-point victory over South Carolina and the win over the Crimson Tide aren’t as impressive as they were when the games were played.
And with the way this season has been, you can bet your ass LSU will be stepping down as well from the top, MORE sooner THAN later.
The Oregon Ducks are currently sitting at the No.2 spot next to the Tigers. They’ve become one of the most explosive college football teams in the country today but I know for sure that nobody would be able to notice that if they were not ranked as high as they’ve been this week.
Besides, we all know that these guys have no business playing in a national championship game by January right? I’d be surprised if both of these teams do play for the national title at season’s end.
