Peter Forsberg returns to the Colorado Avalanche to play the rest of the 2007-08 NHL Hockey Season

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Yes, we actually wrote something about hockey.

In case you didn’t know, the 2007-08 NHL hockey season have it’s trading deadline too just like the NBA. And before that league’s deadline passed Monday, the Colorado Avalanche just signed one of their stars back.

Peter Forsberg agreed to a $5 million, one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche to make his return to the team where he won two Stanley Cup titles with before parting ways after the 2004-05 NHL lockout season.

Peter Forsberg‘’There were no hard feelings,'’ Peter Forsberg said of his departure from the Avalanche a few years ago due to salary-cap reasons. ‘’We went our separate ways as good friends.'’

With 19 more games to play in the regular season, the Colorado Avalanche are hoping that Peter Forsberg can help them get back to the playoffs. The Avalanche are currently four points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

‘’It’s a real good lineup,'’ Forsberg said. ‘’When everyone gets back…'’

Who’s next to bolt out of New Jersey? Vince Carter.

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Yep, apparently, Vince Carter just can’t get himself out of these trade talks the last couple of years.

After getting himself into different trade talks during the last few years of his career, especially when we hit February and the dreaded trading deadline, it’s almost certain that everybody from Jersey will be talking about trading Vince Carter now that they’ve finally completed the deal that bolted Jason Kidd to Phoenix this 2007-08 NBA basketball season .

With the ‘’Jason Kidd trade drama'’ complete, the focus eerily shifts back to VC and although the chance of moving Carter BEFORE the trading deadline is all but over now, the Nets will have the rest of the summer to think about finally trading VC away as well.

I don’t know why they keep on thinking about trading a guy like Vince Carter away. But after they traded Jason Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks, clearly the face of the Nets franchise the last few years, I guess I’m not surprised.

Rumors have it that the New Jersey Nets are working a deal with the Indiana Pacers that will send VC to Indianapolis in exchange for Jermaine O’Neal.

Who will benefit on that trade? Nobody. Since both guys spend their time on the injury list more than that paparazzi dude inside Britney Spears.

Other rumors say that the New Jersey Nets are working on a…

2008 Summer Olympics plans to heat up Beijing, China

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgBecause quite frankly, nobody probably gives a flying fuck in the States.

And as far as the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China is concerned, August 8 is the date that will officially kick off the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. The Beijing National Stadium will be the first stop for the highly anticipated event (as far as Asians are concerned…) and will stretch until August 24.

Oh yeah, apparently, Games of the XXIX Olympiad pertains to the 2008 Olympic Games as well but because ‘’Games of the XXIX Olympiad'’ just confuses us if it’s the summer Olympic games were talking about here or some event that involves gladiators in Rome, we’ll just call it the 2008 Beijing, China Olympic Games mmmkay?

The official logo of the 2008 Olympic Games titled ‘’Dancing Beijing,'’ features a stylized calligraphic character JING (meaning capital), referencing the host city. ‘’Dancing Beijing'’ is a milestone of the Olympics. It serves as a classic chapter of the Olympic epic inscribed by the spirit of the Chinese nation.

The mascots of the Beijing 2008 Olympics are the five Fuwa, each representing one color of the Olympic rings.

Designed to express the playful qualities of five little children who form an intimate circle of friends, the Fuwa also embody the natural characteristics of four of China’s most popular animal. Those are the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope…

The New England Patriots are technically leaving Randy Moss open for Free Agency in the NFL

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

FUCK. If these guys don’t sign Randy Moss soon, the Giants won’t be the only team beating them next season.

The 2008-09 NFL football season is still, well, a LIFETIME away from here. But just because we love football so much up in here, we’ll be talking, breathing and of course, writing about football, until the brand new season kicks off in August.

And as far as the New England Patriots are concerned, they haven’t signed any big names to add to their powerhouse roster yet, unlike last offseason when they got Randy Moss, Wes Welker and a whole lot more to carry them all the way to Super Bowl XLII.

Instead, the Pats are going to the opposite direction. They are technically leaving Randy Moss, the Pro Bowl wide receiver who just broke the single season record for most touchdowns by a wideout held by Hall-of-Famer Jerry Rice.

Yep, Moss sure had one huge year for the New England Patriots. Despite that, the Pats are not putting the ‘’franchise tag'’ on him just yet, technically leaving the guy to the free agency market.

Apparently, the New England Patriots are gambling that they could come to terms with Randy Moss on a new contract so he can remain with the team. Was this a good move? Well, if Moss receives a better offer from…

Wladimir Klitschko meet Sultan Ibragimov on Saturday

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

NO, this is not a meeting between two terrorists.

It’s a unification title bout for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) heavyweight championships. And judging by the weight of those two title belts, two heavy-hitters will collide as IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko fights WBO champion Sultan Ibragimov for the right to be called the undisputed heavyweight king.

For the rest of us, who cares right? After all, the heavyweight division in boxing has been reduced to something that we really don’t give a flying fuck anymore since Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis faded away from the ring. And after guys like Wladimir Klitschko started dominating this division, the heavyweight class became nothing more but circus freak shows.

Of course, that won’t stop Sultan Ibragimov and Mr. Klitschko from locking fists this Saturday. After all, they are fighting for the right to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Let’s look at it this way, at least we won’t be seeing the irritating Manny Pacquiao right?

Ibragimov is coming to this unification title bout in Madison Square Garden as the smaller guy. By today’s standards, Ibragimov at 6′2′’, 220 pounds, is small compared to the other heavyweights out there. And when he faces the 6′6′’, 245-pound Klitschko come fight night, he’ll definitely be the…

Jason Kidd finally traded to the Dallas Mavericks

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgFINALLY. Now we can move on with the rest of our lives and enjoy the second half of NBA hoops.

Jason Kidd was finally traded to the Dallas Mavericks a couple of days ago, adding to this series of HUGE trades in the 2007-08 NBA basketball season. And we thought Garnett’s exodus to Boston was the BIGGEST trade we’ll ever see this year.

With Jason Kidd going back to the team that originally drafted him, the Dallas Mavericks will finally have a prototypical point guard running the offense again since they lost Steve Nash to Phoenix.

Can J-Kidd lead the Dallas Mavericks towards the NBA title? I don’t know about that. It remains to be seen too if Kidd’s aging legs can still carry a team to the NBA finals. One thing’s for sure though, the rest of the Mavericks can expect the basketball coming right at ‘em every single time they are on the floor. And that’s whether they’re open or not.

‘’I've always felt my teammates are always open,'’ Jason Kidd said. ‘’When you think it’s not coming, then that’s when it is. It’s exciting. It’s new. It’s different and you don’t have time to rest in the West because if you lose a game you can drop a couple spots.'’

Yes kid, (pun intended… although you can’t really call the guy KID anymore right?..) that’s what happens when you’re in…

Can Jarno Trulli TRULY win the 2008 F1 Racing Title once the new F1 season kicks off in Melbourne?

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

That’s a resounding NO. N-O, NO. But for the sake of this story, let’s see why he thinks so.

In case you didn’t know, the brand new 2008 F1 season is merely a few weeks away with the first race kicking off in Melbourne (as always…) on March 16. Until then, all F1 drivers this season is looking to win the title. Like this guy for example.

Jarno Trulli of Toyota believes their new TF108 is powerful enough to challenge the likes of Renault and BMW. Hell, the guy’s so confident that he even believes they can challenge the top dogs as well, that’s Ferrari and McLaren - Mercedes, for the 2008 F1 championship.

‘’I don’t know how the others are doing, but it seems to me the Ferrari is really quick,'’ Jarno Trulli said. ‘’Some have said the Championship is already over.'’

‘’The season is long, but if a team like Ferrari start this well it won’t be easy to make up the lost ground. I expect Ferrari and McLaren in front, and behind them I hope there can be Toyota too, along with Renault and BMW. I want to believe in it.'’

‘’I think the Ferrari can be around half a second faster than the McLaren, with…'’

Our quite long 2008 NBA Gambling Picks for Friday

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

It’s a busy day at the Association people as we have 13 games to look forward to.

Let’s start with the New Jersey Nets, a team playing the rest of the 2007-08 NBA basketball season in an era without Jason Kidd. And just in case you didn’t know it yet, yes, Jason Kidd was finally traded back to the team that drafted him, the Dallas Mavericks.

The New Jersey Nets will visit Indianapolis to play the Indiana Pacers. The Nets will ride the shoulders of Nets stalwarts Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson as usual as they try to win back-to-back games without Jason Kidd leading the team. The Indiana Pacers, on the other hand, try to bounce back with a win on Friday after losing to the Cavaliers last Wednesday night. Up and coming stars Danny Granger and Mike Dunleavy will be leading the team.

Shaquille O'NealThe New Jersey Nets will have the slight edge in this game. Expect them to cover the +5 spread over the Indiana Pacers.

Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic host Andre Igoudala and the Philadelphia 76ers next. Magic center Dwight Howard had a monster game the last time out in a losing effort against the Toronto Raptors. Expect Howard to translate all his efforts with a win over Philly.

The Philadelphia 76ers are winning with a decent record of 7-3 in their last 10 games. Bookies are giving them a +7 advantage over the Magic. However, Philly will be playing on the road, where they are at a miserable 9-17. Expect the Orlando Magic to…

Cavaliers land Ben Wallace at NBA Trading Deadline

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYes people, the trading deadline is here and the Cavaliers just pulled off a fast one.

As the window of opportunity to deal players away closes, the Cleveland Cavaliers came up with a huge 11-player trade that landed them former Piston now former Bull, Ben Wallace, this 2007-08 NBA basketball season.

In what has been a rather confusing deal that saw 11 players move that involves the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Chicago Bulls and the Seattle SuperSonics, Ben Wallace and Joe Smith move from Chicago to Ohio in hopes of helping LeBron James at the offensive end.

Ben WallaceGood luck with that. As far as the rest of the guys involved in the trade is concerned, Seattle SuperSonics stars Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West will also be going to the Cleveland Cavaliers after Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry literally gave up half of his roster.

The Cavaliers moved Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown to the Chicago Bulls while also sending Ira Newble and Donyell Marshall to Seattle. Now I don’t know about you but it seems the Cavaliers are going all out this year to finally win a title.

The Cavaliers, after all these wheelin’ and dealin’, end up…

New York Yankees VP Hank Steinbrenner says NFL Football uses steroids more than MLB Baseball

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

He he… It seems like this guy is sick and tired of all these steroids issues involving his beloved baseball.

And in case you’ve been living under a rock lately, we already have controversies surrounding two future MLB Hall of Famers who use steroids with the brand new 2008 MLB baseball season just a few weeks away.

Roger Clemens denied that he uses or has been using HGH. But when his best friend, Andy Pettitte, admitted that he used steroids and even talked about his phone conversations with Clemens about the performance enhancing drug, Clemens’ world started to fell apart.

Roger ClemensLeading baseball to where it has always been, thanks to Roger Clemens of course, under scrutiny. And mind you, the brand new season hasn’t even started yet. That probably made this big baseball executive to speak out, trying to move these steroids issues towards football and away from MLB baseball.

‘’I don’t like baseball being singled out,'’ New York Yankees senior vice president Hank Steinbrenner said in a telephone interview.

‘’Everybody that knows sports knows football is…'’
