World Series of Poker brand headed to United Kingdom

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

I’m going on vacation folks. That means, you’ll be free from the shit you’ll normally get here for a week at least.

But before I leave ya’ll hanging until I get back from God-knows-where, I’ma leave ya’ll with something you’ll rarely get from me. POKER. (How about that huh? This sick fuck actually has something else to write about poker other than the gay stuff I normally write about Phil Gordon…)

With the 2008 WSOP upon us, people are already planning to take the WSOP brand to Europe. Harrah Entertainment Inc. Chief Executive, Gary Loveman, says he’s looking at taking the World Series of Poker and making it the premiere online poker brand of the United Kingdom and continental Europe.

2008 WSOP‘’If you take a look at the legal landscape in continental Europe and the United Kingdom, there are countries where it’s demonstrably legal and there’s absolutely no encumbrance,'’ Gary Loveman said.

‘’Those are areas that are very attractive to us.'’

Loveman was at the Global Gaming Expo when he made the announcement. The Global Gaming Expo is the largest trade show of the year for the North American casino industry.

The 2008 World Series of Poker tournament spokesman, Gary Thompson, says Harrah’s is in the process of studying the market and legal conditions for this venture before deciding to give it the green light, if you will.

Thompson says the WSOP won’t enter the online poker market ‘’where there are any gray areas.'’

Harrah’s bought the rights to the World Series of Poker in…

Washington Wizards won’t let Gilbert Arenas play

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgMaybe because the Wizards realized they’re better off without the guy?

With only a couple more games left into the 2007-08 NBA basketball season, Gilbert Arenas is ready to get his ass back on the hardwood and probably mesmerize us with more game-winning shots at the buzzer, something that is quickly becoming a trademark of his.

The problem is, it seems the Washington Wizards just doesn’t want to let Gilbert Arenas play. Well, that’s at least what Arenas is saying.

Gilbert ArenasThe Wizards guard wanted to get back on the court against the Detroit Pistons. He was ready, he was prepared, the problem is, his team wasn’t ready for him. ‘’I was ready,'’ Gilbert Arenas said. ‘’But they went out there with a fishing pole and yanked me back.'’

Hmm…

Apparently, Gilbert Arenas wanted to return to the court THAT BAD against the Pistons. When he was not given the green light, he was, PISSED.

‘’Y'all don’t have to write any more. I’m not coming back this year.'’ Those were the words Gilbert Arenas blurted out after their game with…

Chad Johnson still hates the Cincinnati Bengals

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Nyuk nyuk nyuk… Mr. Johnson, it’s about time.

With still more than a few months before the brand new 2008-09 NFL football season begins, it seems Chad Johnson has no plans whatsoever of playing another game with the Bengals in this lifetime or the next.

For all ya’ll who didn’t know, the Cincinnati Bengals have already started preseason workouts and Chad Johnson was nowhere to be seen. It turned out that Johnson decided to miss his team’s first preseason workout to make it loud and clear that he’s unhappy with how he is perceived in Cincinnati.

Chad Johnson‘’I can’t force them to trade me. I’m just trying to let them know I’m not happy,'’ Chad Johnson told the media.

‘’We’re fooling ourselves not doing things we need to do to compete with the Indy’s, the Jacksonville’s, Dallas. How do you let Shaun Rogers get away? That helps your run defense. Our defense gives us a chance to win.'’

Apparently, Chad Johnson and Shaun Rogers realized they are soulmates destined to spend the rest of their lives together. That’s until Rogers was booted out of Cincinnati.

‘’I'm frustrated. I’m feeling like our fans felt 10 or 11 years before I got here and…'’

What the fuck?!? The Philadelphia 76ers just beat the Boston Celtics!.. In freaking Boston!

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Yes people, it happened.

As the 2007-08 NBA basketball season shifts towards the postseason, something happened right then and there on the basketball court that even the basketball gods should find disrespectful.

People, the Philadelphia 76ers just defeated the No.1 team in the NBA, the Boston Celtics. Shocking huh? Oh yeah, get this… The Sixers did it at the TD Banknorth Garden right in front of the Celtics fans in freakin’ Boston. How’s that for the shocker of all shockers eh?

The 76ers came up with a remarkable, 19-0 run to bring them Andre Iguodalaback from a double-digit, fourth-quarter deficit and beat the powerhouse Boston Celtics team, 95-90, last Monday.

The win moved the 76ers above .500 for the first time this season. But of course, getting above .500 shouldn’t mean anything but beating the freakin’ Boston Celtics in Boston will.

Andre Iguodala scored 10 straight points in the final quarter to help his 76ers engineer such a devastating loss to the No.1 team in the NBA. He finished with a game-high 28.

‘’It shows how hard we’ve worked to get back,'’ Andre Iguodala said.

‘’But I think we still have to have that mentality like we’re a…'’

How’s your 2008 March Madness bracket doing?

Monday, March 24th, 2008

It’s on people.

The 2008 March Madness bracket tournament is all set. Leading the pack in the East is the number one seed, North Carolina Tar Heels.

The North Carolina Tar Heels wrapped up first place in the regular season, capturing the ACC conference title by coming up with a 76-68 victory over the Duke Blue Devils.

The win over the Duke Blue Devils gave the Tar Heels a 14-2 regular-season conference record and a 29-2 overall mark. Duke finished 13-3 in the conference. Usual starters for North Carolina are point guard Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Marcus Ginyard, Deon Thompson, and Tyler Hansbrough.

The 2nd seed in the East Division belongs to Tennessee Volunteers. Having won its first outright SEC championship in 41 years, Tennessee now hopes to break another jinx. Despite their success in their two seasons under head coach Bruce Pearl, they won the SEC Eastern Division in 2006 and were tied for second last year, the Tennessee Volunteers have been one-and-done in the conference tournament.

The Tennessee Volunteers have not gotten out of the second round of the tournament since 1991, the season before the league expanded to 12 teams. Volunteers head coach Bruce Pearl is hopeful that will change this year after they rolled to a 14-2 conference record with their 89-56 thumping of South Carolina in the regular season finale.

In the Midwest Division, the number one seed belongs to…

Dallas Mavericks lose Dirk Nowitzki, SHIT… Now what?

Monday, March 24th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYep, it seems the Dallas Mavericks are having all sorts of problems as of late.

With only a couple more games left into the 2007-08 NBA basketball season, the Dallas Mavericks found themselves on a downward spiral, losing five of their last ten games, dropping three straight contests.

That three-game losing streak dropped the Dallas Mavericks to 7th place, barely holding a slim one-game lead over the current eight-seeded team in the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the Mavericks lost franchise player Dirk Nowitzki probably until the 2008 NBA playoffs. Dirk NowitzkiToo bad huh? Mark Cuban is probably having one nasty panic attack by now.

Dirk Nowitzki and his boys were playing the San Antonio Spurs last Sunday, then hoping to bounce back from back-to-back losses right in front of their adoring fans at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

It looked good for the Dallas Mavericks too as they led the San Antonio Spurs, 40-36, at halftime. In the third quarter, it all fell apart for Mark Cuban and his boys.

Dirk Nowitzki fell awkwardly on the floor in the…

Kimi Raikkonen wins 2008 Malaysian GP for Ferrari

Monday, March 24th, 2008

At last, the defending F1 world champion finally scored his first win of the season.

With two races done into the 2008 F1 season, defending world champion Kimi Raikkonen finally scored his very first win of the brand new season after a horrific start in Melbourne a few weeks ago.

After finishing 8th in the very first race of the season, Kimi Raikkonen bounced back in Malaysia, finishing first in the recently held 2008 Malaysian Grand Prix last Sunday to cut Lewis Hamilton’s lead in the championship standings by just three points.

Kimi RaikkonenRaikkonen silenced his team’s critics with the win, explaining that the new Ferrari F2008 has more than enough pace to score W’s. That’s after some people questioned the car’s reliability when the team failed to finish strong in Australia.

‘’For sure we had quite a difficult weekend in Australia but I didn’t really expect to have such difficulties. We were not 100 percent sure things would be different here. We knew speed wise we would be fine, even in Australia the speed should have been fine,'’ Kimi Raikkonen said.

‘’Everything worked perfectly here and we…'’

Is Sam Cassell the answer to the PG dilemma the Boston Celtics have been suffering?

Monday, March 24th, 2008

How insane was that deal?

The Boston Celtics just got another high caliber guard in Sam Cassell just when we thought getting both Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen was enough.

Sure, we know that over the years, Sam Cassell has already lost a step or two, but they say as years go by, your intelligence gets deep. Same as the case of Sammy, which is what the Celtics needed.

Sam Cassell still has that killer mid-range shot that he’s been known for, add that to his stability at the clutch. Many people are saying Sam has lost his touch compared to when he was with the Houston Rockets.

I say, he’s still a solid outside threat and he will get wide open jumpers whenever the opposing team double-teams any of the Boston ‘Big Three,’ that’s Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.

Coming from the 1994 and 1995 Houston Rockets championship teams, Cassell brings leadership to the team to beat in the league right now. For sure, Cassell will help this team deep into the 2008 NBA playoffs.

Aside from bringing talent and leadership, this also means that the Celtics will have a far more deeper bench with Cassell, Posey, Pollard and newly acquired P.J. Brown.

Most of the Celtics bench players have been through the playoffs. Add that with the…

Juan Manuel Marquez was robbed by Manny Pacquiao

Monday, March 17th, 2008

For all ya’ll Pacquiao fans out there, face it, it was highway robbery.

If you missed last weekend’s rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, the third world moron beat Marquez to win his WBC Super Featherweight championship belt via split decision.

One judge saw it right, 115-112 to Juan Manuel Marquez. The other one saw it tight and although he gave it to Pacquiao 114-113, I guess I can accept that since the fight was just too damn close to determine a winner.

Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel MarquezAs for that other judge who saw it 115-112 in favor of Manny Pacquiao, jeezuschrist, what the fuck was that sick fuck watching? I mean, yeah sure, Manny Pacquiao brought Marquez down in round 3 to score a 10-8 round, but puh-lease, that round was the only dominating round for Pacquiao as Marquez simply took care of business the rest of the way.

I scored it 114-112 in favor of Juan Manuel Marquez just because Marquez had really good rounds during rounds 11 and 12. He fought the fight like any prototypical boxer would, come out strong in the first two rounds and finish strong again in the last two.

Watching him get robbed like that was…

Houston Rockets beat the Lakers to win 22 straight

Monday, March 17th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYes people, after winning their 22nd straight game, the Rockets are now the No.1 team in the West.

How about that huh? These guys are really making a solid push for the playoffs with only a few more games remaining into the 2007-08 NBA basketball season. Can the Rockets go all the way this time? Well, they have to do one thing they haven’t done before in the T-Mac era first. And that’s go past the first round.

After becoming the No.1 team in the West, the Houston Rockets definitely look solid heading to the playoffs. Last Sunday, the Rockets won their 22nd straight game, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 104-92 to overtake Tinseltown as the new No.1 seed if the playoffs started today.

Rafer AlstonThis time though, it wasn’t Tracy McGrady leading the Rockets’ attack but Rafer Alston. Known as ‘’Skip to My Lou'’ back in the playgrounds, Rafer Alston dropped a career-high 31 points to help Houston beat the Los Angeles Lakers.

Alston was on fire, hitting eight three-pointers out of 11 attempts, scoring as many as 16 in the very first quarter over the Los Angeles Lakers defense. You read it right people, the very first quarter.

Kobe Bryant scored a team-high 24 points to help the Lakers but with Shane Battier hounding him…
