Will these Guns of the Patriots win Super Bowl XLIII?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Okay, okay, we can now put that upsetting ‘’almost perfect'’ season behind us.

That is of course, if you’re a New England Patriots fan. For those of you looking for more stuff about Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, sorry if I lured ya’ll here. Hee hee…

The brand new 2008-09 NFL football season is coming and the Patriots, the team that almost finished with PERFECTION last season, goes back to square one while still trying to find the answer on what went wrong in that horrible loss to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII.

New England PatriotsOf course, the New England Patriots will be looking to do it all over again and give the 1972 Dolphins more panic attacks. Hopefully, they won’t choose Super Bowl XLIII, if they get there, be the game they lose because Pats fans going through all that again with another possible perfect season on the line will just be too much.

Can the Patriots flirt with perfection again all the way to Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, Florida? The Pats front office certainly hope so and team owner Robert Kraft, as always, likes his…

Who will win the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAnother fast-paced weekend is upon us.

You read it, the 2008 F1 season resumes in Budapest as the top F1 drivers in the world compete to win the latest war on the race track, the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.

This year’s race in Budapest should be an interesting one with the somewhat tight race for the drivers chapionship. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton is leading the drivers championship standings with 58 points, closely followed by two Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen with 54 and 51 points respectively.

Hamilton, after ending the most recent races of the season with first place finishes, should be the favorite to win the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.

2008 F1 Hungarian Grand PrixWith Hamilton’s last two stellar performances, there is no doubt that he will win his third straight formula one race and further extend his lead over Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen. The Hungarian GP is the 11th race of the season with seven more to go. The Budapest race consists of 70 laps with the circuit length of 3.81 KM covering a total distance of 306.663 KM.

The last two races here have been won by British drivers, with…

Will the Boston Red Sox trade Manny Ramirez?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Just when you thought all is good in Boston…

After a World Series title, dominating American football and winning the NBA championship for the 17th time, it looks like dark days are ahead for Boston after news broke out that the Red Sox are discussing deals to trade the city’s baseball icon, Manny Ramirez, to the Florida Marlins this 2008 MLB baseball season.

You read it, with only a few more hours before Thursday’s trading deadline, the Boston Red Sox are seriously considering a trade that involves Ramirez to the Florida Marlins as well as other MLB baseball teams who would love to have the slugger.

Manny RamirezThursday at 4 p.m. ET is the deadline to trade players without going to waivers. And Manny Ramirez, with 10 years invested playing in the majors and five with the Red Sox, has the right to veto any trade that comes up if he chooses. STILL, I’d be surprised if he chooses to veto any deal that will get him out of Boston. After all, Ramirez and the Red Sox are not in good…

New Rules you have to Live with if you’re Lucky Enough to play in the 2008 World Series of Poker

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Well, playing poker in general anyway.

With the 2008 World Series of Poker underway, it is probably safe to assume that poker is hot. The poker industry is still on an uphill climb and more and more people are getting into the game.

This doesn’t mean, however, that the rules you use in Las Vegas are the same rules being used on the other side of the Earth.

Any serious poker player knows that confusion of the rules in the middle of a poker game (or even worse, in the middle of a hand), can cause a great deal of frustration, not to mention a mountain of chips.

Paris HiltonThanks to the Federation Internationale de Poker Association (FIDPA) and the International Poker Rules (IP Rules), this problem should no longer be a cause to tilt. Professional poker players Marcel Luske and Michelle Lau established FIDPA and IP Rules to make sure that there is an international set of rules and standards for poker games.

The IP Rules consist of 80 rules and also incorporates the Tournament Directors Association’s 40 rules.

Standardization should promote fair play, consistency and clarity, particularly since tournament directors are required to…

The Chip Leaders of the 2008 World Series of Poker are…

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Poker fever heats up.

And while that phrase can only keep true poker aficionados interested, the 2008 World Series of Poker IS really starting to heat up as the top poker players in the world continue to compete for the only thing that matters in poker, a WSOP bracelet.

The 2008 WSOP started with almost 6800 plus participants vying for the ultimate goal of winning a bracelet and for seven long and tiring days, only nine remain for the 2008 WSOP Main Event Championship that will be played in November of this year.

Leading the 2008 World Series of Pokerpack is Dennis Phillips with $26,295,000, taking home the chip lead, followed by the 27-year old Ivan Demidov with $24,400,000. Third in the chip count is Scott Montgomery of Ontario, Canada with $19,690,000. All three have at least a few more months before they resume play with the other six, now dubbed as the ‘’November Nine'’.

Looking back on how things materialized in this grueling seven day tournament, we start with Phil Nguyen who was one of only two WSOP bracelet winners left in the field when play began on Day 7. Nguyen won the WSOP $2,500 NLHE event in 2003 and the $1,500 NLHE Shootout event in 2004.

Phil Nguyen became the 26th-place finisher when he reraised all in with…

The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games have rules on Dope

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgProbably because they don’t want to have the same number of doping scandals this year’s Tour de France had.

The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China is almost here and the event’s organizers have begun running here and there to bring its fans the best only the Olympic Games so rightfully deserve.

In fact, the International Olympic Committee has come up with ‘’anti-doping rules'’ that they are hoping to be the answer to the somewhat dangerous trend the world of sports is in these days.

2008 Beijing Olympic GamesFor starters, they have increased the number of tests in these Olympic events. From the 3,600 tests they made back in the 2004 Athens Olympics, they moved it up to 4,500 for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing, a clear example how they want to have fair play on the biggest sporting event of the year.

There are some new elements of the ruling too, like one where an athlete may be notified and tested more than once during the same day. If an athlete misses a test on two separate occasions during the Olympic Games, or on one occasion plus twice in the 18 months beforehand, that athlete will be considered to…

Miami Dolphins think they’re going to the Super Bowl

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Somebody remind these stupid fucks that they just had a dismal 1-15 season.

People from Miami are stupid. Why? For one, they decided to let a player like Shaquille O’Neal go and build around a guy like Dwyane Wade who can’t shoot a decent jumpshot. Two, they still think they’re going to the Super Bowl in the coming 2008-09 NFL football season after that pathetic 1-15 mess the last time they played football.

What in the hell are these sick fucks thinking? While the Miami Dolphins are not as stupid as the Miami Heat (YET…) thinking that they will be playing in the Super Bowl in the coming season after losing almost every single game they had the last time around is just plain ridiculous.

Ricky Williams1-15. The Miami Dolphins went 1-15 for crying out loud and they still think they have a shot at Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa? Puh-lease, who ya’ kidding?

‘’As far as I’m concerned, we’re not rebuilding,'’ 11-year defensive end Vonnie Holliday said. ‘’I can’t rebuild. I’m competing like we’re going to the Super Bowl this year.'’

Sure, there’s nothing wrong with that but for Holliday’s, as well as the rest of Miami’s sake, it would be advisable if you don’t put your hopes up that much. You’re still another fucked up team from Miami and making claims like…

Brett Favre better not hear what starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers is saying in the Green Bay Packers camp

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

He simply doesn’t care.

Apparently, that’s the mindset Aaron Rodgers is in as he prepares to start for the Packers in the coming 2008-09 NFL football season. In case you’ve been living under a rock lately, Favre wanted to compete for his old starting spot but the Packers, already committed to starting Rodgers, just won’t let the veteran to it.

Favre is considering filing for reinstatement with the NFL and reporting to camp, a move that will force the Green Bay Packers to either grant him his release or just trade him.

Of course, the Packers, as Green Bay Packers Quarterbackof press time, refuse to be that entity that releases a sports icon like Brett Favre away from their team. What these guys don’t know is, trading him away just might be even worse than releasing the guy. Hell, I wouldn’t want to be in that Packers front office right about now.

You have to wonder just how good Aaron Rodgers have become this offseason to make the Packers commit to him over the guy that has been leading their offense for all those…

Packers don’t want Favre competing for his QB spot

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Yep, apparently, Favre wanted to compete for his old starting QB spot but the Packers are not letting him.

That’s the latest in the ‘’Favre saga'’ as we close in on the coming 2008-09 NFL football season. After the Packers have already expressed their desire to stay with their young, new starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Favre wanted to stay with the Packers and compete with Rodgers for the starting spot. Unfortunately for him, the Packers are not letting him to.

Why won’t they let Brett Favre, the guy who has been leading the Green Bay Packers franchise for all these years, have the opportunity to prove that he still got it? Beats me. One thing’s for sure though, Packer fans at Lambeau won’t be too happy of Rodgers taking their main guy’s spot in the coming season.

Brett FavreFavre admitted in a telephone interview that he did not report to camp with the Green Bay Packers after general manager Ted Thompson pleaded him to delay his arrival. He also said he offered to compete for his old job but was told that was simply impossible.

Favre also admits he has been speaking with the Packers’ rivals, Minnesota Vikings, specifically Vikings coach Brad Childress but says it wasn’t tampering like the rest of the Packers organization has been claiming.

Childress confirmed this, explaining how this…

Carlos Sastre wins the 2008 Tour de France

Monday, July 28th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgFINALLY, after all the doping scandals that have plagued this year’s Tour, we finally have a winner.

Of course, I won’t be surprised if this guy gets tested positive for dope as well but for now, Spain’s Carlos Sastre will be recognized as the winner of the 2008 Tour de France.

10 days have passed since we last saw another guy tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. And when the Tour concluded last Sunday with Carlos Sastre being crowned champion, guess what, another doping allegation came out of the woodwork.

Carlos SastreHe he… You read it. These doping scandals have tagged along with this year’s Tour from start to finish and it was only fitting that we have one last one before they crown a new champion.

This time, according to the head of France’s anti-doping agency Pierre Bordry, it was Dmitriy Fofonov who was tested positive for a ‘’very heavy dose'’ of…
