2008 AllState BCS National Championship game will give New Orleans a new story other than Hurricane Katrina
In case you’ve been living under a rock lately, New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina a couple of years back.
Since then, we’ve all been bombarded with stuff like rebuilding this, rebuilding that, motivating even the dumbest of pro sports teams like say… the New Orleans Saints. Now, 2008, it seems this rebuilding process is still going on and sports, as a whole, is still milking on it.
With the 2008 NBA All-Star Game and the 2008 AllState BCS national championship game all set for New Orleans in the next two months, I guess New Orleans is where it’s at right now eh? Well, I guess you can say that, especially when the latter is coming this Monday.
The Ohio State Buckeyes and the LSU Tigers will be playing the 2008 AllState BCS national championship game at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. Although the rebuilt Superdome is still far from being done, it will be the mecca of football once again on Monday night.
Ohio State Buckeyes versus LSU Tigers is a football game that symbolizes much more. The BCS game, along with the NBA All-Star Game next month, are evidence that one of the world’s greatest big-event cities can get back in the big-event business. And that there can be celebratory life after Katrina.
With exception to the New Orleans Saints of course.
”[New Orleanians] just want people to understand what they’re going through,” David Meeks, an editor of New Orleans’ major newspaper, said. ”The places where the game is being played and the hotels and restaurants are, they’re fine. It’s the neighborhoods where people live that the fight and the struggle continues.”
Hopefully come game time, the only struggle that will happen in New Orleans will remain inside the Louisiana Superdome between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the LSU Tigers, nothing more nothing less.
Who will win the 2008 AllState BCS national championship game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the LSU Tigers? Bodog Sportsbook, despite all the shit these guys went through in 2007, still has the odds.
LSU Tigers -4.5
Ohio State Buckeyes +4.5

You imply the superdome has not been fully repaired. As a saints season ticket holder I can tell you that is not true. There are still some long term improvements that we would like to do to the building, but the upgrades over the past two years already make it better than it was when Katrina hit. The Superdome looks better than ever, and will once again be the center of the sports universe tonight.
