After a 0-4 start, the St. Louis Rams fire Scott Linehan
After inheriting an offense Dick Vermeil and Mike Martz helped to become one of the best in the league a few years ago, Scott Linehan was able to turn this team once dubbed as ‘’the greatest show on turf'’ to ‘’the biggest collection of retards ever assembled on turf'’ this 2008-09 NFL football season.
The St. Louis Rams, under Linehan, have started this campaign at 0-4, extending their losing streak that dates back into last season at a miserable 0-8. You read it, the Rams have lost eight straight games dating to last season, letting their opponents outscore them at an astounding 288-110.
I guess you can say head
coach Scott Linehan getting his ass fired in St. Louis was only a matter of time. Of course, you really can’t put all the blame on the guy. The offense the Rams made famous a few seasons ago is now gone. Wide receiver Isaac Bruce decided to salvage what’s left of his career in San Francisco, wideout Torry Holt is old and Marc Bulger just lost his starting QB spot to yet another old fart, Trent Green.
The end result? Offensively, the Rams have been a disaster.
What Linehan should be blamed for is the way he handled adversity. While Tom Coughlin was screaming his lungs out every single time the New York Giants drop a ball, Linehan continued to bend over for his players.
You see, Linehan is a nice guy. He’s so nice that every single time his players made a joke of themselves on and off the field, Linehan refused to punish them. Hell, there was even one instance that both Holt and runningback Steven Jackson screamed at Linehan on the sidelines and Linehan, being the nice guy that he is, just smiled and bent over for them.
They say nice guys finish last and it couldn’t be any more true for Scott Linehan and his Rams.
