Remember, you have to deposit $50 first to receive the bonus and all ya’ll who already have an existing account, unfortunately, can’t join this promo for the Preakness. Speaking of this Saturday’s race…
Big Brown, the fancied
3-year-old colt who dominated the Kentucky Derby last May 3, will gallop once again for the 2008 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico on Saturday, looking to follow up on his win at Churchill Downs and keep his hopes of a Triple Crown title alive.
Usual exercises for Big Brown, with jockey Michelle Nevin guiding him to the race track, were made in preparation for this Saturday’s big race. Trainer Richard Dutrow said Big Brown went well in his trip around the course, limiting the colt to a light exercise routine of gallops when the track is fast and jogging around it when it is wet.
Another colt who is interested in competing is Gayego, Gayego was the Arkansas Derby (G2) winner that finished a troubled 17th in the 2008 Kentucky Derby, in which he had to be steadied in traffic after getting off to a sluggish start.
Giant Moon, a finalist for the 2-year-old New York-bred of 2007 award, will also look to stop Big Brown’s 2008 Triple Crown trail while Hey Byrn, who won the Holy Bull Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park in his most recent start, galloped 1 ½ miles under exercise rider Peter Shelton at Calder Race Course before embarking on a road trip for the Preakness.
Other colts who will be joining the 2008 Preakness Stakes are Kentucky Bear, Macho Again, Racecar Rhapsody, Riley Tucker, Stevil, Tres Borrachos and Yankee Bravo.
Of course, the focus should remain with Big Brown. THAT is until he loses and we’ll be left without a Triple Crown champion again.
Many believe that the 2008 Preakness Stakes will just be a race for second-place money since there’s really no one from the field for the Preakness who can outrun the reigning Kentucky Derby champ on paper.
Big Brown has shown he’s fast and can win from an outside post, making it only him and Clyde Van Dusen in 1929 as the only Derby winners to leave from the No.20 post. Will the race at Pimlico this Saturday tell a different story?
There’s only one way to find out.
