Boston Celtics visit New Jersey Nets in Big Three Battle

Yes, two big threes will be getting it on Friday night, probably making them the big six now. (Or whatever…)

As the 2007-08 NBA basketball season heats up, the Boston Celtics are still the No.1 team in basketball. That’s despite their shocking loss at the hands of the Charlotte Bobcats last Wednesday who seem to have Boston’s number.

On Friday night, the Boston Celtics led by it’s BIG THREE; Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen (they say he’ll return to the Celtics lineup on Friday…) and Paul Pierce visit the Nets in New Jersey where their own big three of Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd await.

The New Jersey Nets are on a New Jersey Netsroll, they won eight of their last ten games and are finally over the .500 mark after Jason Kidd publicly announced his discontent towards his team.

Jason Kidd was rumored to be asking for a trade that would send him to probably the Cleveland Cavaliers and play alongside LeBron James or to the Los Angeles Lakers and play alongside Kobe Bryant. Now that his team is winning, trade talks for the veteran have died down a bit. Maybe…

The Boston Celtics, on the other hand, are still the most dominant force in basketball. (Especially after they signed Kevin Garnett…) But after a shocking loss right in front of their adoring fans at the TD Banknorth Garden to the Charlotte Bobcats, 95-83, the momentum they had after winning nine of their last ten is probably gone now.

And to make matters worse for Boston, they will be visiting a New Jersey Nets team that dominated the young Seattle SuperSonics the last time they were on the court. The Nets big three were rolling too as Richard Jefferson dropped 28, Vince Carter scoring 18 and Jason Kidd getting 16 points and 11 rebounds.

I have to admit that the Nets’ big three looks more impressive than that of the powerful Boston squad. But hey, this is still Boston and betting against them this season is, and always will be, a bad idea.
