Brett Favre better not hear what starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers is saying in the Green Bay Packers camp

He simply doesn’t care.

Apparently, that’s the mindset Aaron Rodgers is in as he prepares to start for the Packers in the coming 2008-09 NFL football season. In case you’ve been living under a rock lately, Favre wanted to compete for his old starting spot but the Packers, already committed to starting Rodgers, just won’t let the veteran to it.

Favre is considering filing for reinstatement with the NFL and reporting to camp, a move that will force the Green Bay Packers to either grant him his release or just trade him.

Of course, the Packers, as Green Bay Packers Quarterbackof press time, refuse to be that entity that releases a sports icon like Brett Favre away from their team. What these guys don’t know is, trading him away just might be even worse than releasing the guy. Hell, I wouldn’t want to be in that Packers front office right about now.

You have to wonder just how good Aaron Rodgers have become this offseason to make the Packers commit to him over the guy that has been leading their offense for all those years. For now, the Packers’ new starting quarterback is keeping his focus on leading the Packers offense for the coming season. Yes, he doesn’t give a rat’s ass what his team intends to do with Favre.

‘’I feel like this is really between Brett and the organization, and I’m just trying to stay focused on the things I can control,'’ Aaron Rodgers said after the team’s first practice at camp.

‘’They’ve seen the hard work I’ve put in. I think I’ve earned a lot of respect from the guys playing on the scout team, being here 100 percent the last three offseasons. Obviously they want to see a guy who’s consistent on the field on Sundays, and obviously that’s going to take a few weeks to prove that to some of the older guys, but I look forward to that challenge.'’

Of course, part of that challenge is make Favre’s fans cheer for him as well at Lambeau Field, a challenge I don’t think Rodgers will find easy in the near future.
