Brett Favre out of retirement but won’t play for Packers
We knew that one was coming, but we never saw this one.
Confused? You’re as confused as most of us coming to the brand new 2008-09 NFL football season. But don’t worry, as always, we’ll be breaking it down for you so you won’t have to shoot yourself in the head with a shotgun.
Just last March, Brett Favre announced that he’s retiring again. But after two straight seasons of doing just that, people were kind of skeptical about THIS retirement speech. Everybody knew the moment Favre said he’s retiring that him announcing that he’ll make yet another return to dance ‘’one more time'’ was only a matter of time.
Everybody saw it coming. I did. I hope you did as well. But unfortunately for the Green Bay Packers, they were not ready.
There are reports that claim the Packers have moved on, ready to finally send longtime project Aaron Rodgers to the frying pan. And when Favre said he wants to give it a shot AGAIN, the Packers were reluctant to give him his slot back.
Of course, Brett Favre was disappointed. He says he feels he’s no longer welcome in Green Bay. And while his fans in Wisconsin have been clamoring for him to play for his team, he’s ready to move on with a new club.
Favre asked the Packers for his release, hoping that another team will pick him up before the new season starts. Yes people, the guy once dubbed as ‘’the ultimate Packer'’ could be with a different team at the start of the season and he hopes his fans in Green Bay will understand this very unfortunate situation.
‘’I am guilty of retiring early and there is a reason for that,'’ Favre said. ‘’And the major issue is ‘Why did he retire?,’ and ‘He asked for a release because he doesn’t want to play in Green Bay.’ That’s not true. And I hope people are hearing this and saying ‘OK, that clears it up.’ ‘’
‘’Them moving on does not bother me. It doesn’t. I totally understand that. By me retiring March 3rd, I knew that could possibly happen. All I was saying is, you know, I’m thinking about playing again.'’
And it certainly looks like he will. Again.
