6-0. That’s where the Cougars are at this point of the season.

You read it, BYU is undefeated after seven weeks into the 2008 NCAA college football season and they will put that undefeated streak on the lie when they go up against the TCU Horned Frogs to start Week 8 of college football.

The BYU Cougars have the longest winning streak in college football. Since losing at Tulsa back in September 15, 2007, they have won 16 straight games, winning their 6th straight game of the season after beating New Mexico 21-3 last Saturday.

The Cougars are in their first 6-0 start since opening 2001 with 12 wins. Beating the TCU Horned Frogs, who currently stand at 6-1, a perfect 3-0 in conference play, is next on their itinerary.

The Horned Frogs, who received the 27th-most votes in this week’s AP poll for their dominant defense, are being challenged to remain unbeaten in the Mountain West. Along with Brigham Young and the Utah Utes, TCU is one of three teams looking to come out of the Mountain West with a bid for a 2008 BCS Bowl game come January.

TCU has held five of its seven opponents to seven points or fewer. TCU is No.1 in the nation in total defense, only giving up 207.4 yards per game and tops in the Football Bowl Subdivision in rushing defense, only giving up 20.7 ypg.

The Horned Frogs will be hoping to stay on pace with BYU’s high-octane offense with starting quarterback Andy Dalton back on the field. Dalton hasn’t played since suffering a right knee injury against Oklahoma, but has practiced again and could return this week.

The BYU Cougars won their last trip to Fort Worth 31-17 on Sept. 28, 2006, one of the Frogs’ four losses in their last 32 home games.
