Can Brett Favre lead the Packers to Super Bowl XLII?

Who knew that the Green Bay Packers would have a run like this? After fending off another retirement call, Brett Favre was able to lead the Packers to the 2008 NFL football playoffs. And to think Favre flirted with retirement thrice before.

How about that huh? And mind you, merely ”getting there” wasn’t enough for the ageless Brett Favre because he was able to lead his guys to play the New York Giants in the NFC championship game with the winner going to Glendale, Arizona for Super Bowl XLII.

Yep, you read it right. The Brett Favreimmortal Brett Favre will lead the Green Bay Packers against the New York Giants in the 2008 NFC championship game. And as good as young Eli Manning has been in leading his Giants to the championship game and probably break free from his older brother’s shadow, Favre’s mere presence at the big dance this year should be a better storybook ending to what has been one of the best seasons this league has ever had.

Imagine if Brett Favre could actually win it all.

Against the Seattle Seahawks, the Green Bay Packers quarterback reached another milestone. He became the second quarterback to pass for more than 5,000 yards in the playoffs, joining NFL Hall of Famer, Joe Montana, after beating Seattle in the NFC divisional round, 42-20.

Oh yeah, he also went past John Elway who had 4,964 in the postseason. Montana had 5,772 yards in 23 appearances in the NFL playoffs.

Of course, NONE of this would mean anything if Brett Favre fails to get to Super Bowl XLII. This would be the first time Favre returns to a conference championship game after a decade of disappointments so you just know how bad he wants to win this one.
