Can Celtics win one road game in 2008 NBA Playoffs?

They have to, that is if they have no plans getting extended to the full seven games yet again.

As we go deeper into the 2008 NBA playoffs, the high and mighty Celtics team that has earned the best record in the league this season can’t seem to win anything outside the confines of their home in Boston. They are now 0-4 on the road in the playoffs and THAT is a huge problem considering that it only gets tougher and tougher on their road for the title.

Of course, with them having the best record in the NBA, the Boston Celtics can continue to shoot blanks on the road as long as they keep winning all of their home games. They have homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs and winning all of their home games can very well land them the NBA title that has eluded them since No.33 retired.

Kevin GarnettThe problem is, teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons, for instance, have already proven they can win road games. What happens if a team steals one game in Boston? Surely, the Celtics does not want to put themselves in the position that they have to win one game away from Boston just to stay in contention for the title right? Especially with them struggling so much on the road.

On Monday night, the Celtics will try to improve on their 0-4 road record when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers for Game 4 of their best-of-seven second round series. Boston got their asses kicked once again on the road the last time they were on the floor, losing to the Cavaliers in emphatic fashion, 108-84.

And after the Celtics let the Atlanta Hawks kept them playing the full seven games of their first round series, a series where no road game was won whatsoever, it definitely looks like we’ll be going the distance again. After the Cavaliers beat the Celtics in Game 3 rather easily, you have to wonder for how long can Boston keep this up.

‘’I can’t explain it, but I have to find the reason,'’ Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said, referring to his team’s struggles away from Boston. ‘’I have to find out why.'’

The Cavaliers, after winning Game 3 despite the poor shooting from star LeBron James who went 5-for-16, will be looking to tie this series at two games apiece. If the Cavs win this one on Monday, um… wait… I’m not ready to entertain that thought yet. It’s THAT scary.

Can the Boston Celtics finally win one on the road and beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4? Bodog Sportsbook has the odds.
