Can Lewis Hamilton win the 2008 F1 British Grand Prix?
He has to. With him down 10 championship points to standings leader Felipe Massa, he has got to win this Sunday to keep his title hopes alive.
Just last season, Lewis Hamilton surprised many racing fans after almost winning the season’s drivers championship. Every expected him to be the same title contender this 2008 F1 season but as we reach the halfway point, we find the fiery British driver ten points down behind current leader Felipe Massa and is currently sitting on an unfamiliar spot at fourth place.
What the fuck is happening to this guy? Lewis Hamilton literally captured the entire world of motorsports after an impressive rookie season. Although he is still right there in the championship picture, Hammy needs to start winning now or he might see the championship that’s probably his to win go to a Ferrari driver again.
Coming to the 2008 F1 British Grand Prix this Sunday, Lewis Hamilton is confident (as always…) that he’ll be able to win this one. This time, he’ll be racing at home, trying to win the checkered flag in front of his adoring fans in Britain.
Of course, Hammy is glad to be back home.
‘’There’s something about racing in your home country that affects you,'’ McLaren - Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton said. ‘’The constant support of the crowd gives you a boost throughout the whole weekend. It’s not something you experience anywhere else, but it does make you that bit more determined to succeed.'’
‘’It gives an extra boost to your confidence to know you’re getting more support, and it seems to make you perform better. Last year I found the support was immense and made the weekend a lot easier to get through.'’
‘’Winning your home race is something every driver wants to achieve. My goals are that I want to win the first race of the season (which he did this year), I want to win Monte Carlo, which I did this year, and I want to win my home grand prix, so I’m ready for the challenge at Silverstone.'’
