Can Miguel Cotto beat Antonio Margarito this Saturday?
Everybody’s expecting Miguel Cotto to fuck Antonio Margarito up.
Yep, as of press time, Cotto is the favorite to win the WBA welterweight championship this Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and knock Antonio Margarito out silly.
Miguel Cotto has an astounding record of 32-0, 25 of those wins came by way of KO. It’s probably because of that unblemished record why many sportsbooks have this guy as a heavy favorite. Yes, betting against this dude is a bad idea indeed. Hell, I feel sorry for Antonio Margarito already.
Miguel Cotto, who moved from
the WBO to the WBA in 2006, had the WBA welterweight title since December 2nd of 2006, when he challenged and defeated Carlos Quintana by TKO in the fifth round.
In March of 2007, Cotto was challenged by Oktay Urkal, and after Urkal went into the fight with a whole lot of confidence, his corner threw in the towel in the 11th round after taking almost every punch Cotto threw at him.
The Puerto Rican was challenged again on June of 2007 by Zab Zudah, a fight Miguel Cotto won, but not without controversy. He successfully defended his title by TKO in the 11th round, despite the fact that Zudah argued that the two low blows Cotto landed were intentional, leading to the TKO in the 11th.
Miguel Cotto also beat Sugar Shane Mosley in their fight last December before successfully defending his WBA welterweight title against Alfonso Gomez just recently.
With all these wins he accomplished in the last three years, there is no doubt that Miguel Cotto is the favorite to win the fight against Antonio Margarito at MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. Cotto has all the experience and boxing talent to dominate the tough Antonio Margarito, but can he really do it?
As a boxing fan, we have seen Miguel Cotto’s evolution into the complete package, paving the way for his rapid rise to superstardom. Cotto should still be wary of Margarito’s size and must use a steady combination of offense and defense to beat the taller boxer.
