Celtics still can’t win away from Boston as Cleveland Cavaliers tie the series, 2-2, in the 2008 NBA Playoffs
0-5. That’s how good these Celtics have been, playing playoff games away from Boston.
After having the best road record of the regular season, the Celtics just can’t seem to win anything away from home in the 2008 NBA playoffs. After losing all three road games of their first round series with Atlanta, the Celtics dropped the last two games played in Cleveland here in the second round.
Apparently, the Boston Celtics just can’t win playoff games on the road and THAT is something to be worried about especially if you’re a Celtic fan. The Celtics lost both games played in Cleveland by double-digits, losing 108-84 in Game 3 and 88-77 in Game 4. And when you let a team like the Cavaliers get momentum like this, you’re already flirting with disaster.
You see, the last time a team let the Cleveland Cavaliers gain momentum at home in the playoffs, it was against the Detroit Pistons last year. The Pistons HAD that series in the bag, winning convincingly during the first two games of the series. When Detroit let the Cavaliers win the next two games in Cleveland, the Pistons saw their title hopes end abruptly in six.
Of course, the Boston Celtics, with probably the most talented BIG THREE in basketball; Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, dropping two more games is something that they do not want to happen.
For their sake, let’s hope these Celtics don’t crumble under pressure again like they did in Game 4.
Boston was so in this game, trailing Cleveland 68-65 going into the final quarter. Unfortunately, LeBron James was just unstoppable in the fourth as he led the Cavaliers in outscoring Boston, 20-12, in the fourth quarter. Oh yeah, that includes that ridiculous slam dunk James had in the final minutes of the game that virtually destroyed any morale the Celtics had.
Game 5 is big for both the Celtics and the Cavaliers. This best-of-seven second round series resumes in Boston on Wednesday. Who’ll win? I have absolutely no idea.
