Colts face Titans in BIG Monday Night Football game
It’s probably do or die for the Colts on Monday night.
After six games into the 2008-09 NFL football season, the Colts are no longer one of the most feared teams in the AFC. After playoff appearances including a successful Super Bowl title run, the Colts are just hovering at the .500 mark at 3-3 this year, three games behind the Tennessee Titans who are still undefeated, surprisingly leading the AFC South at 6-0.
What happened to the mighty Indianapolis Colts? It seems they forgot to bring their talent along with them when they decided to move from the RCA Dome to the new Lucas Oil Stadium back in the offseason.
This Monday, they have
the Tennessee Titans, the only undefeated team in the NFL this season. Lose to these guys and the Colts can very well kiss their hopes for a sixth straight AFC South title good bye.
They have the Patriots and the Steelers next after this huge Monday Night Football game against Tennessee and the Colts know they have to win this one to keep their title hopes, or even their NFL season, alive. Losing to the undefeated Titans, although probably likely at this point, is just NOT an option for these guys.
”We’re 3-3,” Colts head coach Tony Dungy said. ”We’re a team that wins one, loses one, plays well part of the time, not well part of the time. We have the makings of a good team. We have enough individual components to be very good, but right now we’re not clicking on all cylinders.”
”We’ve just got to win. That’s a given,” Colts cornerback Marlin Jackson said. ”We’ve got to win this game. It’s just plain and simple.”
Plain and simple. Tell that to Peyton Manning who hasn’t been able to enjoy the same kind of pass protection from his offensive line like he did a few seasons ago. The Colts offense has been devoid of the play-action big play this season primarily because the offensive line hasn’t been able to give Manning any opportunities to work.
Peyton has been getting rid of the ball quicker and for a quarterback who likes to take his time inside the pocket, forcing him to get rid of the ball a few ticks earlier than he’s used to is always not good for his team’s chances.
