Cowboys made the right Choice in beating the Giants

seth-edward-oneal.jpgMaking the right CHOICE. Yes, that sure was the deal last Sunday night.

While the Dallas Cowboys continue to deal with dissension within their organization at this point of the 2008-09 NFL football season, they still managed to come up with a much needed win last Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Dallas Cowboys were up against the defending Super Bowl XLII champions, New York Giants. And since the Cowboys offense are currently in disarray with Terrell Owens sort of feuding with Tony Romo and Jason Witten, coming up with a win against the red hot Giants was a tall order indeed. Yes, it sure was easy to bet against the Cowboys last Sunday night.

Tashard ChoiceBut for some reason, the Dallas Cowboys pulled through, making the right moves to come up with a shocking 20-8 win over their NFC East leaders. Dallas sure made all the right moves and the right CHOICE, and in this case, the right choice last Sunday for the ‘Boys was rookie running back, Tashard Choice.

Tashard Choice was the key for the Dallas Cowboys in coming up with a win over the defending Super Bowl champs AND current NFC East leaders, New York Giants. With Marion Barber ineffective because of a toe injury, Choice filled in to rush for 91 yards on nine carries. He also had the game-clinching touchdown in the final minutes of the game to keep his team’s playoff hopes alive, for now.

The Cowboys were trying to hold on to the football with about two and a half minutes remaining in the game trying to preserve a 14-8 lead. After giving up a safety and a field goal to New York, the Giants clearly had the momentum and was looking to take the football from the Cowboys offense heading to the two minute warning.

With Marion Barber out, the Cowboys counted on rookie Tashard Choice to hold on to the football as long as he can. And with 2:16 left in the game, Choice did more than just holding on to the ball. He punched in a 38-yard touchdown run that caught the Giants defense by surprise, sealing the win for Dallas.

The Cowboys now have to win their last two games, one in Baltimore and another in Philly, to guarantee themselves of a playoff spot. It’ll be awfully difficult, yes, but if this Cowboys team can get it together to beat the defending Super Bowl champions, you can’t count these guys out just yet.
