Dallas Mavericks lose Dirk Nowitzki, SHIT… Now what?
Yep, it seems the Dallas Mavericks are having all sorts of problems as of late.
With only a couple more games left into the 2007-08 NBA basketball season, the Dallas Mavericks found themselves on a downward spiral, losing five of their last ten games, dropping three straight contests.
That three-game losing streak dropped the Dallas Mavericks to 7th place, barely holding a slim one-game lead over the current eight-seeded team in the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the Mavericks lost franchise player Dirk Nowitzki probably until the 2008 NBA playoffs.
Too bad huh? Mark Cuban is probably having one nasty panic attack by now.
Dirk Nowitzki and his boys were playing the San Antonio Spurs last Sunday, then hoping to bounce back from back-to-back losses right in front of their adoring fans at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
It looked good for the Dallas Mavericks too as they led the San Antonio Spurs, 40-36, at halftime. In the third quarter, it all fell apart for Mark Cuban and his boys.
Dirk Nowitzki fell awkwardly on the floor in the third. He started to grab that pat of his left leg that hurt the most, stopped, placed a hand on his head and pounded the floor. Definitely not something you want to see with merely a couple more days left before the playoffs begin.
Oh yeah, the San Antonio Spurs outscored the Dallas Mavericks 29-18 during that very quarter, as Tim Duncan, with Nowitzki in pain, grabbed the loose ball and scored to put the Spurs ahead for the first time in the second half.
That engineered a 19-0 run with the Spurs controlling the rest of the way.
