Ferrari admits they have a lot of work to do before thinking about winning titles in the 2008 F1 season
Yes people, the almighty Ferrari admits they are not perfect just yet.
Merely a few more weeks before the 2008 F1 season kicks off, teams are starting to figure out what needs to be done in order for them to compete for a championship by season’s end.
As the final testing in Barcelona concludes, Ferrari found out that they still have a lot of work to do if they want to have a repeat of last season’s success, when they won both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
Ferrari is happy with the performance of their new car, the F2008 (no gimmicky names there…) despite a few problems during testing in Barcelona last week.
The F2008 has been the form car during testing, but the team didn’t have everything their own way at the Circuit de Catalunya, and were outpaced by Lewis Hamilton and McLaren - Mercedes Thursday.
They were the only team on the track on Friday and had a few mechanical difficulties. However, Ferrari technical chief Aldo Costa is confident they are making headway with the 2008 Australian Grand Prix just a couple of weeks away to kick off the brand new season.
‘’The gearbox of Luca’s (Badoer) car leaked oil so he had to stop, while everything was fine with Felipe’s (Massa) car,'’ Aldo Costa said.
‘’That means, that we still have some work to do to be ready for the race in Melbourne, it’s enough that a detail is not right to destroy the whole race.'’
‘’We are quite satisfied as far as the performance is concerned, but it’s impossible to say where we stand compared to the others.'’
