Ferrari’s F2008 will have a Shark Fin for F1 Hungarian GP

A shark fin, apparently, that’s the answer Ferrari has come up with to solve their problems.

We are at the halfway point of the 2008 F1 season and after all the hype that has surrounded Ferrari’s main man and defending F1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, it died down a bit with Kimi sitting in third place for the drivers championship.

Although Ferrari is not doing bad at all when it comes to the race for the constructors championship, Kimi Raikkonen failing to win the top of the podium lately has become more of a concern for the Italian team.

F2008 Shark FinThe last time Kimi saw the top was during the first four races of the season, when he scored two first place finishes in Malaysia and Spain for Ferrari. His next six, however, were races he’d rather forget. Although he did saw the podium in Turkey and France, finishing third and second respectively, his last six were races he relinquished his lead for the championship to the guy he’d probably least like to have it.

Lewis Hamilton.

As of this writing, Hamilton leads the drivers championship standings with 58 points followed by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa who has 54. Raikkonen, despite being the main guy in Ferrari, fell behind to his team’s no.2 guy, good for only 51 points.

Ferrari leads the constructors championship with 105 points. Their closest competitor is surprisingly BMW Sauber, with 89. STILL, with Kimi struggling, Ferrari needed an answer to bring the defending world champion back on track and according to reports, this shark fin is the answer.

It is reported that Ferrari will unveil their shark fin for the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix. They are hoping that this will bring Kimi back on track and catch up to McLaren’s bet for the title, Hamilton.

‘’Luca Badoer will carry out a shakedown at Fiorano of the cars that will be used in Budapest. For the first time on a race weekend, the F2008 will be fitted with, amongst other new components, the ‘anvil’ engine cover after (Felipe) Massa felt in Jerez that it brought some benefits,'’ Ferrari said in their team preview.

Will it work? Tune in this Sunday.
