Lewis Hamilton accuses Felipe Massa of hitting him
No, as much as we would love to see Massa and Hamilton throwing punches, that wasn’t the case over the weekend.
With the race for the drivers’ championship as close as it can get this 2008 F1 season, every point scored by the remaining title hopefuls is HUGE, considering that we only have two remaining races left after Japan.
And last Sunday, we saw how far these drivers will go to grab important championship points. In the recently held 2008 F1 Japanese Grand Prix, we saw Felipe Massa probably taking it to another level and unfortunately for Lewis Hamilton, he was the victim.
Lewis Hamilton still leads the drivers’
championship race with 84 points while Felipe Massa, after finishing with two more to his point total, now has 79, trailing Hamilton by just five heading to the final two races.
And for all ya’ll who missed last weekend’s race, Felipe Massa ‘’deliberately'’ his Hamilton to do it. Well, that’s what the championship leader is claiming anyway.
The two title contenders tangled on the second lap of the Japanese grand prix as Hamilton moved up to take a position off Massa, forcing the Ferrari driver out wide.
Massa, though, wasn’t going to give it up and came back at the British driver, cutting the chicane to nudge the McLaren into a spin. Ferrari team members were then shown on television to be celebrating wildly.
Of course, Lewis Hamilton wasn’t happy about that one bit.
‘’He outbraked me so I didn’t get past him on the way in,'’ Lewis Hamilton said. ‘’I did the corner normally and he can back very aggressively and hit him. I think that was pretty much as deliberate as can be.'’
Yup, the race for the title only gets better from here.
