Lewis Hamilton wins 2008 F1 title amidst controversy
And to tell you honestly, it’s just too bad that the season had to end the way it did in Brazil.
And although I was rooting for Lewis Hamilton to win it all in the 2008 F1 season, what happened in the last moment of the very last race of the season was so fucking terrible that I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Felipe Massa who was LITERALLY screwed of the world title.
You see, it was all set-up for another dramatic finish for the championship in the 2008 F1 Brazilian Grand Prix. It was the last race of the season and Brazilian Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa can STILL win the title in front of his home fans and snatch it away from McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton.
Massa needed to win in Brazil 
and have Lewis Hamilton not finish better than sixth. That way, Massa can finish the season with 97 points and overtake Hamilton. That was the ‘’ideal finish'’ Ferrari needed to come away with the drivers championship but nobody probably anticipated the kind of finish Formula One saw in Brazil.
Lewis Hamilton STILL had the drivers championship within his grasp in the very last lap of the race running in fifth place. It didn’t matter too that Felipe Massa was leading in Brazil and was on his way to his sixth grand prix win of the season because Hamilton knows even if Massa wins the Brazilian GP, the title will still be his if he finished fifth because of the points advantage he was already enjoying in the standings.
Lo and behold, Sebastian Vettel all of a sudden, managed to overtake Hamilton to take fifth and relegate Hamilton to sixth, taking away the title that was suppose to be Hamilton’s to win, in the process. It was ironic that a Ferrari engine would deny Hamilton of the title and although Vettel’s Ferrari-powered Toro Rosso wasn’t as glorified as the red scarlet Scuderia Ferrari in Italy, it looked like they would be after this.
But then the unimaginable happened.
Merely meters away from the checkered flag after Felipe Massa already claimed victory, Timo Glock all of a sudden, decided to slow down and let Hamilton pass him. That move not only lets Hamilton finish fifth, Glock actually stole the title away from Massa and handed it to the wide-eyed Hamilton.
What a screw job that one turned out to be.

You are nuts! Massa wasn’t screwed out of anything. Hamilton won fair and square and deserved to win. That kid is amazing!
Now, with that said, my three favorite drivers are Hamilton, Massa, and Heiki. Bar far the best drivers out there. I go back and fourth with people arguing over Kimi and Fernando. But the reality is Kimi and Fernando are a bunch of babies, who literally cry every time it doesn’t go there way.
The greatest thing that Hamilton did to this sport, is jack up the stakes. Basically Hamilton is the kind of unbelievably talented driver, that basically says, hey, if you’re in my way, I’m going around you. Whether you like it or not. That’s racing! It’s not sitting behind each other and pacing themselves like in the previous years. I’m a long time fan of F1 and I can tell you, I was getting sick and tired of the complacency. It was ridiculous!
Now they’ve got someone on the track who will stick it too them right from the line, and I love it!!! And who has risen to the surface to challenge Hamilton? Only those worthy with the guts and tenacity, Massa and Heiki! God bless them all!!! All the rest of the whiny little drivers who can’t win, can just go find another sport.
