LSU Tigers beat Ohio State, 38-24, to win BCS Title

seth-edward-oneal.jpgUnfortunately for Ohio State Buckeyes fans (*AHEM*) it’s another year of a letdown following weeks and weeks of hype and anticipation.

This is now the second straight time the Ohio State Buckeyes were coming into a BCS title game as the No.1 ranked team before losing to No.2. We all saw that last year when the Florida Gators crushed ‘em, 41-14.

This year at the 2008 AllState BCS national championship game, it was the LSU Tigers crushing the Bucks, 38-24, to deny Ohio State the BCS crystal crown for a second straight year.

Yep, the LSU Tigers sure were in LSU Tigers vs Ohio State Buckeyescontrol of this one after giving up 10 points to Ohio State early in the game. After a field goal in the first quarter to get to the scoreboard, LSU jumped on Ohio State in the second quarter with THREE quick TDs to come up with 24 unanswered points before halftime.

In the second half, the LSU Tigers stretched their run to 31 unanswered points after coming up with yet another touchdown in the third. The Buckeyes got their hopes up after they came up with an interception and a touchdown but after LSU came up with another TD in the fourth, it was all over.

This is probably a fitting ending to an unpredictable 2007-08 NCAA college football season. With all the ups and downs we all saw within the season’s BCS rankings and all the upsets we witnessed all year, having the first two-loss team in LSU to win the BCS national championship is probably the right way to end the season.

The win also let LSU become the first double champion in BCS history after winning what turned out to be a battle between two past BCS national champions.

‘’Certainly there will be some argument as to who’s the best team. But I think the national champion has been crowned tonight,'’ LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles said. ‘’I have to give great credit to some divine intervention that allows us to be in this position.'’

As for Ohio State? They are now at a miserable 0-7 against SEC teams in BCS bowl games. Fuck.
